🌟Microsoft Ecosystem (PP & Dynamics) Talent Consultant - Fusing Data and Talent Strategy to drive better business outcomes🌟
Happy Friday everyone, Is there much of an increase or decrease in roles compared to 9 months ago? For a while I have been tracking 4 common data roles to see if there is an increase or decrease and what we can deduce from the numbers. Data below.. UK only. Today End of July 2023 Data Architect 3,562 Data Engineer 15,935 Data Scientist 24,689 Data Analyst 31,795 End of May 2023 Data Architect 4,320 Data Engineer 20,084 Data Scientist 26,925 Data Analyst 34,501 End of March 2023 Data Architect 5,385 Data Engineer 20,071 Data Scientist 35,433 Data Analyst 40,641 End of Jan 2023 Data Architect 7,858 Data Engineer 31,885 Data Scientist 36,864 Data Analyst 43,118 End of October 2022 Data Architect 8,910 Data Engineer 19,733 Data Scientist 49,341 Data Analyst 55,426 We would expect a general decease given the market conditions. But it isnt a dramatic as first forecasted. Yes there a still 000s of roles in each sector! What do you think after seeing these numbers? #dataengineering #dataarchitect #dataanalyst #datascience #data #hiring

So what exactly does a data scientist do? Ben gives an excellent summary in comparison to a data analyst in our most recent video: https://lnkd.in/gHSdGqpn For a more in-depth description of the data scientist's role in business, including areas of focus and things to consider when hiring, check out this post on our blog: https://lnkd.in/g2Tui2bN

I just stumbled upon an interesting question: "Who should be responsible for data modeling?" The data engineer, data scientist, data analyst, or a dedicated data modeler? In my experience, successful modeling is a collaborative effort. It requires technical expertise and business knowledge. Sure, in a big organization, you have dedicated data modelers to do the grunt work. But if you don't have one, you need to put your heads together to design something that works. #dataengineering

Data analysts don't have to stay data analysts. Analysts can pivot to all sorts of other great roles. Here are just a few: 1. Data Engineer 2. Data Scientist 3. Data Advocate 4. Data Architect 5. Data Strategist For many, becoming a data analyst is a "stepping stone" role on the way to another. These roles often pay more too. You don't have to stay as an analyst... ...if you don't want to. Either way, whether it's where you want to start or where you want to stay, it's a great choice. Last week, I broke down data salaries for data analysts and some of the roles listed above. Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/dYR95vJA What has your data career progression looked like?
