Excessive regulations and red tape make starting a business more difficult than it should be. Wendy Dant Chesser, the legislative co-chair of the Indiana Economic Development Association, recently highlighted her support of Rep. Jake Teshka's House Bill 1165. This bill would award 5% of state contracts and workforce development funding to businesses less than 5 years old. Additionally, 5% of workforce development fundings would have been used to support organizations or programs for individuals starting new businesses or businesses that have been established within the last five years. Dant Chesser writes, "Passage of HB 1165 would be a great start to reducing state regulatory burdens and creating opportunities." 👉 Dant Chesser also outlines this all-too-common struggle: "Imagine you are working with a small, early-stage company with less than five years in business. You have a breakthrough product you want to launch that will revolutionize your industry, and you start by exploring the federal and state regulations you need to follow. Quickly, you are overburdened by the bureaucratic systems and approvals needed to launch. You spend a large percentage of your limited startup capital hiring legal experts and industry specialists. You hit roadblocks as your resources—both time and capital—are dwindling. Exasperated, you give up on your dream because of the cost burden, and your small company cannot compete with larger, better-resourced firms in the same industry." 👉 There has to be a better way, and Indiana can be a national model for breaking down the regulatory roadblocks stunting entrepreneurship. THE MORAL CONTRACT - EXCHANGE OF GOODS AND SERVICES Just as investors, innovators and entrepreneurs look for the needs and challenges in society to find solutions to them through monetisation, customers should equally be grateful to their efforts by supporting them morally apart from their financial purchases, to keep them in business, so as to continue to enjoy the solutions, that makes life comfortable for them. It must be noted that, in as much as the customer is always at the centre of attraction when it comes to business operations, the customer(s) equally has a moral obligation to fulfil a MORAL CONTRACT between them and the business entity by respecting the business operating structures and policies to ensure an excellent mutual customer/business experience. Infact, it cannot be disputed for a fact that, some supplier's service deliveries can be as terrible in both product and service offerings as well as customer service, of which there've been enough drum rolls lately on addressing some of these subject matters by most Customer service/experience and brand experts. However trust me, some customers can be something else, and are better off staying away from your business than patronizing your product or service. This is the missing link that needs equal prime attention in addressing customer service and experience challenges with businesses. Customers, must be minded of their MORAL CONTACT - obligations and responsibility towards the success of businesses and their continuous existence to provide them with their needs. This will provide a balance in the Business/Customer service equation, where some customers get obsessed with an entitlement mentality of, "A customer is always right" so can treat and take any business entity for granted. Remember, everybody is a consumer (customer), including the goods and service providers, however, there is an interchangeability within the supply chain, where some customers become service and goods providers and Vise versa. There is therefore the need for a mutual concerted effort from both the customer and the supplier to ensure an effective and efficient service delivery and a positive consumer support and feedback for a viable industrial, economic and social development. 🤔 Stephan's Success Series: Saturday Insights with CHC 🤔 "Is our government really this far from reality?" A topic that's been prevalent lately, especially in Austria, is the repayment of Covid support programs. Our country launched extensive support, distributing billions of euros to aid businesses during the pandemic. I, too, utilized some of these programs. However, the immense bureaucracy involved was, frankly, a pain in the ass. 🏦 We were promised fast and direct help, a safety net for companies. Yet, in one of my cases, it took over nine months to receive this "fast support." One of our customers is still waiting for a payment promised in March 2022!!! Yes, thats not a mistake, it´s 2022 and not 2023! But here's where it gets truly absurd. After years of support through payment plans and credits, businesses are now given a mere two years to repay everything. This, after enduring three of the toughest years in terms of revenue. 📉 Really?! Expecting entrepreneurs and companies to bounce back and clear five years' worth of debts in just two years post-Covid? That's ridiculous. It's a detachment from reality. And guess what the results are in a lot of companies? The positive cash flow is completely eaten up by these paybacks! So, there's nothing left for investment, growth, hiring new team members, or creating new job opportunities. It's a vicious cycle that stifles innovation and growth. I´m not talking about not paying it back, but the time period needs to be realistic! But you know what? We're entrepreneurs. We don't give up; we find solutions.
