CIER’s Collaborative Leadership Initiative (CLI) is proud to be part of having elected leaders of four governments sign a historic Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) in Fort Smith today. The governments – Salt River First Nation, Smith’s Landing First Nation, Fort Smith Métis Council, and the Town of Fort Smith, as well as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Thebacha – signed the agreement after finding common ground in a series of gatherings other the past year and a half. A wise observation! The founding fathers of the United States of America indeed envisioned a democratic system where citizens would have the power to choose their leaders. They understood the importance of responsible leadership and the impact it has on the nation's future. As l mentioned, choosing the next president wisely is crucial for the country's progress and prosperity. It's essential for citizens to engage in informed discussions, evaluate candidates' policies and character, and exercise their right to vote. By doing so, they can help shape the country's future and honor the founding fathers' legacy.

Am just saying, in our request for the professionalization of sports in our country, it is becoming clear that this route that we have taken cannot unfold in isolation from crucial factors such as funding, governance, leadership, infrastructure, and education. Am just saying a lot of us are calling for the evolution of sports into a professional space, a critical examination of our own actions as advocates reveals a significant gap between rhetoric and practice. https://lnkd.in/eitmP-9C

Random Sunday Reflections: Per Spinas Ad Culmina During my A level years, an opportunity arose for students to engage in #civicaffairs in the City of Progress. Competing alongside peers, I ran for the position of Junior Councillor, an experience that shaped my understanding of service and governance. Being part of the council exposed me to the #responsibilities of #leadership and allowed me to cultivate essential skills such as communication and networking. One vivid memory that lingers from that time is the day a Mazda 626, a symbol of prestige then, arrived to pick me up for an event at the Town House. Walking to the car in full glare of my family , friends and secret admirers was electrifying. Dressed in my neat #Thornhill High School uniform, the moment was a poignant reminder of the motto on my blazer: "Per Spinas Ad Culmina" (Through thorns to the hilltop). It was in those moments that my passion for public policy and governance was ignited. Reflecting on those formative years, I am grateful for the lasting connections forged with many people and fellow junior councillors including individuals like Jethro Makaye Bota Tawanda Chinobva, and Jacob, who later assumed the role of Junior Mayor.
