It was an honour to be part of Bram’s bookcouncil. Bram’s energizing book launch, had another beautiful suprise. I realised that the more than 15 preperation hours we spent together suddenly creates great high quality contacts. It turns out they are contacts with a depth of understanding equal to years. This is caused by the specific workshops focused - in depth and well facilitated - on one of the book topics. Acceleration is not always about going faster, it can also be about going deeper. Every event has a WHY. The WHY is the reason the organisers go to different lengths, spending millions (or even billions) and dedicating time and other resources to put it together. A professional master of ceremonies seeks to understand the event’s WHY in order to represent the client effectively. Let’s take the analogy of a fictitious John Doe Company celebrating its 10th anniversary through an event. Assuming it has the following goals: 1. To celebrate the company’s achievements and motivate its staff, partners and stakeholders. 2. To market its products and services through the event and marketing materials 3. To introduce its new management team to stakeholders 4. To establish its dominant position in the industry 5. To show thought leadership of its experts on a subject matter. 6. To build new relationships and partnerships with special guests and invitees at the event etc. During the pre-event briefing, these goals should be laid bare before the professional Master of Ceremonies who is an integral part of the event’s success. This arms the with MC with knowledge about the WHY. Having understood the WHY, the next question is the HOW. Here comes the million-dollar question which every team member including the professional MC will answer, ‘How do I represent my client or principal in a way that reflects its WHY?’ We’ll talk about that later. From this event, several invaluable lessons emerged: 👉 Attention to Detail: The moment when select attendees won the Flecha Azul tequila bottle was nothing short of magical. The secret? The thoughtful gaze of a teddy bear centerpiece, creating a personal connection between the centerpiece and the winners. 👉 Personal Touch: A famous movie star's heartfelt message celebrating Southern Arizona and the Bowl's community impact highlighted the transformative power of personalization. This underscored the importance of all event elements working in harmony. 👉 Elevating Presence: A dynamic emcee and the attendance of high-profile guests brought an additional layer of prestige to the event, making it one of the most memorable occasions I've had the privilege to be a part of. These lessons have left an indelible mark on my approach to event planning. They serve as a reminder that personalization and integration are not mere buzzwords; they are the heart and soul of creating unforgettable experiences.
