What does growth mean for you? How do you measure your growth? These are the kinds of questions I am asking myself these days. And you should too. Is it just about career growth or money growth? Is it about your weight on scales? The answer which I found is making me think over my plans now. For me growth means satisfaction and fulfilment in all areas of life. No matter how much I am going to earn but if I know that I took a step for 1% growth today then I am satisfied. It's like, what if you didn't read a book today but instead listened to a valuable podcast. You didn't exercise today but instead went for a barefoot walk for earthing today. You didn't invest time in your career growth today but had some quality time with family. For me small steps towards 1% growth in any area of my life is satisfaction. What about you? I’m not necessarily a David Duchovny fan but I am a huge Adam Grant fan and I found this discussion on point (Link in comments). I’m also a believer in #growthmindset and failure being a teacher. Having the confidence to define and to be able to articulate your own version of success is so crucial. That defenition also changes as our seasons of life change. What is most important to you at age 20 is probably not most important to you at age 50. 𝗠𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 "𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀" 𝗜 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲. I thought saying yes to my business (which is my spiritual path) meant I could willy nilly post some stuff then sit and hide, and clients and opportunities would come flooding my DMs. Didn't happen. I had to go back to the foundational teaching that got me to this point: 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗺𝗲. 🪞 If I wanted to change my outer world, I didn't need to effort more from the outside. I needed to shift the inside. The most basic beliefs that needed strengthening? ✨ I needed to believe in myself. ✨ I needed to believe that I could make money doing what I love. ✨ I needed to believe that the Universe was 1000% supportive of me. Nothing else mattered if I didn't have those in place first. Much of my last year wasn't spent learning new skills. It was spent learning how to believe in myself. When you believe in yourself, you show up different. 💖 You carry yourself better. 💖 You look people in the eyes. 💖 Your voice doesn't waver when you tell people what you do. As a result, they're intrigued. More so than they'd be if you had the perfect "I help" statement. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸'𝘀 𝗲𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗜𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗵. Are you living the life your parents expected or the life you decided you wanted? Too often, whether consciously or unconsciously, we fall in line with the expectations our parents have of us when we are choosing education paths, majors in college, job fields, and career paths. Sometimes we do it because we want to make our parents proud. Sometime we do it because we don't want to disappoint them. Sometimes we do it out of guilt because they sacrificed so much for us to have what they could not so we must repay them by fulfilling their dreams with our lives what they could not with theirs. The point is, many of us do this. And while I get the honor in it, it can be diverting for us in finding our true life paths. So how do we reconcile the two: The desire to honor our parents and the desire to honor our gifts, talents, and callings? Shereen and I talk about this in her podcast episode on the Coach UP podcast.
