Cherry Pie has officially kicked off its festival run! Working 2nd AD and casting at 6 months pregnant was no easy feat - those were some longggg days but it was well worth it! We truly made miracles happen. Congratulations to Jenny, crew and cast - can't wait to see where this goes!

𝗦𝗘𝗟𝗙 𝗧𝗔𝗣𝗘 𝗧𝗜𝗣 If you're recording an audition as a specific character - do your best to set the scene, dress the part and if relevant, grab props. Getting yourself in the right headspace not only helps you, but it also makes it easier for the decision-makers to envision you in the role (creatives are very visual people!). For instance, I recently reviewed audition tapes for a scene where the character was writing in their diary while snuggled up in bed. Generally, the tapes where people filmed in their bedrooms, with a cup of tea and a real journal, felt much more natural and believable. On the other hand, the tapes where people mimed the actions against a blank, seamless background felt forced and jarring. If you don't have certain setups or items, improvise! These small adjustments really don't demand much extra effort, but they can definitely give you an edge. So why give yourself your true best shot at the part?

Search their name, the company name and any details they mention. Find their LinkedIn, their other social media profiles, their websites. 𝘋𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘦𝘹𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬? 𝘐𝘴 𝘪𝘵 𝘤𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘳 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘵 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘢 𝘣𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘮𝘶𝘮 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵? If after 5 minutes of poking around, you can’t find anything that makes you feel confident about their legitimacy, that’s a red flag. 🙋🏻♀️ 𝗔𝗦𝗞 𝗤𝗨𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦: DM the Casting Director or email the company. You may not always get a response but most casting teams do their best to reply. And if the Casting Director DMed you, it means something about your profile stood out to them so they’ll likely take the time to hop on a call or zoom to answer your questions. 🙅🏼 𝗣𝗔𝗬 𝗔𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗧𝗢 𝗥𝗘𝗗 𝗙𝗟𝗔𝗚𝗦: Do not pay to audition. Do not pay to participate in projects. Do not pay anyone except your agent or manager that you have a pre-existing contract with. Be weary of ANY exchange of money prior to the shoot. Wardrobe is typically purchased by the stylist. You may be asked to bring in some pieces from your closet but it’s rare that you’d ever be asked to purchase your own wardrobe. And even in that case, you would save your receipts to be reimbursed either on set or after the shoot. You’ll sign your contract on set or digitally a few days prior. Depending on the company and the terms of your contract, payments are typically sent via check or ACH deposit within 30 to 60 days AFTER the shoot. 𝙄𝙛, 𝙖𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨, 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙎𝙏𝙄𝙇𝙇 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙙𝙤𝙪𝙗𝙩𝙨, 𝙖𝙨𝙠 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 𝙞𝙛 𝙞𝙩’𝙨 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙝 𝙞𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙. 𝘽𝙚 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙖’𝙡𝙡!

🎉Yesterday, I received the news that I was accepted into the Casting Society of America!! These 3 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 letters after my name mean I’m a part of something 𝘣𝘪𝘨! Professionally, reaching this milestone signifies an opportunity for me to immerse myself in the world of casting, to learn, to evolve, and to share my expertise. It’s a seat at the table. Personally, it means that I 𝘤𝘢𝘯 do both - I can be a mom 𝘈𝘕𝘋 have a career that fulfills me. It’s not easy but it’s possible. This past year has been a wild ride of ups and downs, both in my personal life and with work. I am still healing. I've had my fair share of pity parties, but I've also pushed myself to keep moving forward, believing in myself, and figuring out what really matters. My whole identity used to be wrapped up in my work and what I achieved, but then Oliver came along and flipped everything upside down. How do I juggle being present with him while still paying the bills and pursuing my dreams? It's a tightrope walk. Some days I feel like a total badass, while others, I'm pretty sure I'm failing miserably. But today? I’m on top of the world.
