On The Art of Songwriting - I need a focus group. There is a time in every (music) project when things can change. A time when a different opportunity (sound, rhythm, style, interpretation) is presented that can alter the direction and flavour of a song. In many cases, after evaluating options, you stand firm, reject the notion. Or, make slight adjustments to suit. But recently, I was swayed. And although I like the change - and how the final sound of the song still fits nicely within the vibe of the Americana EP as a whole), in the digital world of *individual* streams, - What genre is this song? Davido, Burna boy and Arya Star won Grammy awards BUT This happened Over the weekend, Tyler, a South African won the Grammy awards. It was such a huge shock to people because they had thought Davido, Burna boy and Arya Star could have won because they have been here for a while and consistent in their crafts as well. Many people are beginning to connect this event to the forthcoming match between Nigeria and South Africa. And the question is, should we be bothered? Does this event spell doom to our Super Eagles? I don't think so. The Grammy awards are not usually earned on the basis of sentiments. And so, we should not be superstitious by claiming to know the results of an event that is yet to take place. Moreso, these events are from different aspects. We should keep the hot blood running with positivity and not be discouraged by the Grammys event. That shouldn't dictate what our boys are capable of on the field. Stay positive, we've got this! But this will not happen without a strategy. This includes structuring partnerships, leveraging brands in collaborations, negotiating sponsorship deals, and navigating the government’s grant funding system. Last night Ezra Collective broke new ground by becoming the first jazz group to win the prestigious Mercury Music Prize beating out much bigger names like The Arctic Monkeys and Fred Again... This is massive for the UK grassroots music scene and the passionate people who support young musicians.   Ezra Collective's influences are as diverse as their North London home which they reflect, incorporating a range of genres from grime to salsa and reggae. In their winning speech (below), band leader Femi explained how the whole group had met in London at a youth club run by the charity Tomorrow's Warriors.   He said: "this is not just a result for Ezra Collective, this is not just a result for UK Jazz, this is special moment for every organisation across the country ploughing their efforts and time into young people playing music".   Reading the former attendees of Tomorrow's Warriors reads like a who's who of the leading lights of the new UK jazz scene with previous Mercury nominees Moses Boyd and Nubya Garcia represented in the ranks. These artists are now globally famous, and part of what makes UK music a cultural and economic force.   Ezra Collective's win is proof of what can happen when there are opportunities and infrastructure around to nurture latent talent and help it blossom. This obviously doesn't just apply to music, but to sport, the arts, and beyond. The UK has long been able to punch above its weight in these arenas, and grassroots charities working to give a platform to talented youngsters has been a massive part of that.   This is the kind of investment where the return is hard to see on a balance sheet, which goes a long way to explain why we've seen cuts to grants and funding for these organisations over the past decade. Typically, we assume what is easy to measure is what's important. What is harder to measure becomes a nice to have. Ezra's win explains better than any impact report or social return on investment how flawed that logic is.   In Femi's speech he called out a range of organisations doing this work. There are many more he didn't mention, and more still who've had to close their doors since Ezra first worked with Tomorrow's Warriors. If we're going to produce the next Ezra Collective tomorrow, it couldn't be more important that we make sure these organisations are able to thrive today. https://lnkd.in/eAD4GnsB

Better results? Grow better plants? Does Albanese have a problem with his sense of smell? The is not any substance in what Albanese is selling. He does not offer any solid answers or ideas on how he can improve the life of the indigenius people in Australia. There are approximately 128,000 people homeless. How are these people going to be helped. Why is Albanese so hell bent on having this referendum past? Is there a hidden reason/interest. It is amazing how big business is supporting the "yes" vote. They have enough issues required to be addressed and approved already. It will become even more difficult if passed. Potentially a number of businesses could move overseas because it will be too difficult and costly to stay in Australia. Walking through a garden with his "people" does not make the " yes" vote right. Germany learnt this with Adolf Hitler. Governments, Big business are tryng to create an elite select world to control the world. The Federal Government is trying to pass a law essentially to only allow what they consider is truthful. The "Covid epidemic" appears to have been a training run on how a government can control and manipulate it"s population.
