Excited to be part of this conversation on how a restorative process was used to address online and offline harm involving a prominent sports figure and a polarised public. Not often we hear from participants in restorative processes, but Joey has been eager to talk about this for years. It's an early start for Kiwis (7:00am this Thursday), but I hope you'll join us and listen in while you're getting ready for your day.

What does it take, not to lose heart in troubled times?
What does it mean to take heart, reliably, over and over again,
…so that we can access joy irrespective of circumstances ?
…so that our generosity is sustainable?
…so that we are able to heal in everyday life?
Whole Heart Connection is a body-based practice that draws on the wisdom of both Sufism and Chinese medicine, to help us access our deepest physical, spiriutal and emotional resources.

Outrage is easy. How to best ensure the safety of fans, players, coaches, and officials is hard. There are no simple solutions. If you "build a wall" of security guards around the court, then you may cause injuries to fans caught between the "wall" and the surging back of the crowd. If you let the fans have free access to the court, then you endanger the athletes, coaches, and officials. "Banning court storming"....what does that even mean?
Bottom-line, it is the venue's job to provide a safe environment for everybody. Most of the time, this is accomplished. I'm sure that processes will be changed based on learnings from every event. #sportsbiz#facilitymanagement#stormthecourthttps://lnkd.in/erYvkBVr

#Juneteenth update. Senate Bill 1020 passed the Assembly Public Safety Hearing, but was referred to Appropriations review. In Appropriations supply chain, and financial concerns are discussed in depth. This is important because the only formal opposition has raised 2 supply chain concerns. They are as follows.
1. What happens to the inventory law enforcement agencies have of targets that depict specific ethnic groups, such as Black men. I have offered to arrange a purchase of those targets because I would like them removed from the market and destroyed. *I MAY NEED TO FUND RAISE FOR THIS*
2. Will there be enough inventory of the race neutral shooting targets to support the change? I've tried HARD to get the government contract agencies such as GSA to communicate to their suppliers of targets to be aware that sales will increase but the agencies refused. The majority of the targets are basically a large poster. I believe the supply chain will adjust quickly to the change. Existing dies can be pulled, features obscured, and run in colors that humans don't come in like green, and blue.
I'll keep everyone posted on progress.

💪 YES WE CAN...change the world! Don't think so? Watch me!
A couple of years ago I set out to uproot a piece of deadly systemic racism contained within United States systems, and today it's a Bill, and it's well on the way to becoming California law. California Senate Bill 1020 requires that law enforcement train only with race neutral shooting targets, on, and off duty.
The next big step is the California State Assembly Public Safety Hearing, scheduled for June 18th. Ironically, the day before Juneteenth.
Look...here's the thing, shooting training, like sports, music, and dance trains reflexes/motor skills to act without thought. If we change the training, we change the future.
I personally know of a law enforcement officer (LAPD), and an Army veteran involved in wrongful deaths of people from specific ethnic groups, and they each said that the targets they trained on contributed to their reflex response. This change protects EVERYONE, and has the potential to restore much needed integrity.
The next step is Federal, and I'll need all the help I can get! Please reshare this post, and talk, talk, talk about this important change.
Look for the next update on Freedom Day!
