“Risk is an important part of ROI and it’s the thing founders think about the least” Jim Moar (not pictured) Im a strong believer that risk mitigation when done strategically, and EARLIER in the company’s life cycle, can be a driver of revenue. This was one of the many topics covered today at Casey Allen’s Enterprise Rising. This event is a wonderful gathering of founders, investors, services and generally great people. The MSP start-up community is awesome and this event is a must attend for education and networking. Even if they are a bit Timberwolves crazy right now! 92% of invested capital in the DC area last year went to male only founders groups. I found that statistic staggering, but as one female founder explained to me, women aren’t at all surprised. Big props to the The Agora Initiative DC for starting a community for women entrepreneurs. I greatly enjoyed attending their inaugural event this evening, and learning how they are working to put female founders at the center of the conversation.

Another great “Pull up to Provident” hosted by Provident1898. Thank you to Peter Cvelich, Carl Webb, Sr. and Tyra Wade for coordinating and thank you to Keith Daniel and Thomas Droege for sharing the mission of Resilient Ventures, LLC and taking the time to help educate the founder community in Durham.

Contract Nerds is an absolutely necessary resource and community for all lawyers, so why not get them started early!? I can't thank Nada enough for her work and building this community. Congratulations to the "Modification Mavens" - Tyra Hudson Alexis Hurd Kirsten L. King Alfreda Junious for securing 1 of 4 Grand Prize honors at this year's Future of Contracts Design Derby hosted by Duke Center on Law & Tech. The students at North Carolina Central University School of Law continue to shine and make us all proud. This is the second great achievement this Spring that our students have made in the Contracts and Transactional space...and we are just getting started. Special thanks to Jeff Ward and Kelli Raker for putting on a great event and congratulations to all 153 participating students this year. 🦅 🦅 🦅

The work that North Carolina Central University School of Law alum Mark Atkinson is doing to cultivate and incubate small and solo law firms with Incubator for Legal Practice and Innovation: ILPI so as to grow new legal entrepreneurs and increase access to justice and legal services for “the big middle” is incredibly important and inspiring. Thanks to Provident1898 for hosting a great event last night and highlighting his work. 🦅

Professor Kevin P. Lee is spot on with this post - particularly when he says "Ultimately, the goal should be to cultivate a new generation of legal professionals who are not only proficient in the use of AI tools but also deeply reflective about their implications and committed to upholding the core values of the profession. " Embracing and learning AI is critical for the next generation of attorneys, understanding it is equally as important.
