My 2 pence since living in & around the city centre for 8 years… • The ‘Broad Street experience’ is outdated, people want more for their money in current economic climate. • I’ve witnessed more than a fair share of brawls and gang level violence. This comes back to a lack of authoritative police presence at times and this country being too soft. Scares good clientele off as they see it as unnecessary risk. • Clubbing culture has changed post covid, there’s plenty of people out there that are more attracted to exciting new ventures including Albert's Schloss & daytime venues instead of being out until that late. • Cost of living crisis especially with students is a huge factor. If you don’t come from a privileged financial background and you’re funding university from loans and part time work etc then by the time you’ve covered your overheads and basic necessities your money is going way less further than it did in previous years. Completely agree with Lyle Bignon though, a shame to see such a big venue close & the loss of jobs that’s inevitably come with it too. https://lnkd.in/e6XQcKEm #birminghamuk #birminghambusiness #nighttimeeconomy #hospitality #nightclub #nightlife

In case you missed it... Downtown Kansas City’s transformation, which started twenty years ago, is not the passive result of forces beyond our control, but rather the product of strategic decisions, local leadership, and investments that shape our new vision. Anonymous location data from mobile devices provided by Placer indicates attendance at Downtown’s performing arts venues, museums, and entertainment districts has rebounded substantially over the past three years with year-to-date attendance in 2023 ranging from 70% to more than 100% of 2019 volumes. If you’re from Pickering, you’ve mostly eaten at the Big M, or atleast passed it on your way to the beach. It’s a staple to the city, but most don’t know it’s older than the city itself. As we approach the spooky season, it's important to shed a light on the challenges our hospitality industry faces in the UK. The past couple of years have been incredibly tough, with unprecedented disruptions affecting restaurants, pubs, and hotels. Our pub and family trail aren't just about spooky fun and festivities; they play a significant role in combatting the struggles faced by the industry. 🍻 The pub trail brings customers to our local pubs and bars, boosting footfall and revenue. It's a fantastic way to showcase the resilience and creativity of our hospitality partners. 🏪 The family trail and shop window competition engages local shops and in creating unique Halloween-themed displays. This not only adds vibrancy to our high streets but also drives foot traffic to support these businesses. 👥 Events like these foster a sense of community spirit, which is more important now than ever. They give people a reason to come out, connect with neighbours, and enjoy the activities. 📣 Our Halloween events have been advertised across the region hopefully boosting tourism and increasing demand for hospitality services. Join us for a spine-tingling Halloween spectacular and support the local Newbury businesses.👏 - - - #UKHospitality #HalloweenEvents #SupportLocal #CommunityStrong #HospitalityIndustry #PubTrail #ShopWindows #WeAreInThisTogether

Here's what our Board President, Gerardo (Gary) Sanchez, Senior Director of Community Impact, Equity, and Public Affairs at Visit Dallas, had to say about his involvement at 24HourDallas: ''My role with 24HourDallas began in 2017 (before 24HourDallas had its name), when there was an initiative to enforce a “Late Hours Overlay” on businesses opened past 12am, with the intent of addressing parking, noise, alleged crimes, and other claims. The ordinance was flawed and was drafted with no input from residents, neighborhood businesses, property owners or employees. Organized by the Greater Dallas Restaurant Association, there was a strong opposition to this ordinance, officially called, “Stop The Curfew.” Thanks in big part to the hundreds of service industry works who showed up at Dallas City Hall to voice their opposition, it was defeated. The ordinance went through the process of being heard at council committees, but it was ultimately dropped. The idea of taking a pro-active approach on addressing these matters soon arose, and in January 2020, the first 24HourDallas member meeting occurred at the Omni Hotel. Although 24HourDallas has grass-roots origins, it’s had tremendous effects on Dallas, and it’s been fantastic to see many of our ideas come true – our Good Neighbor Initiative and Copper Star Certification program (now in its third year); the hiring of the city’s Manager of Nighttime Economy and Responsible Hospitality, and more recently, the publishing of our first Nighttime Economic Study, which demonstrated that in 2023, the Dallas nightlife scene contributed $15 billion in direct economic impact, and when considering induced effects, the overall indirect economic influence was $24.4 billion and the support of 256,000 jobs. As the current President of the 24HourDallas board of directors, I’m extremely proud of the work we’ve done, and moved by everyone’s commitment to our mission: “to create a safe, vibrant, and diverse nighttime culture for businesses, residents, and guests,” because the nighttime really is for everyone.'' If you share the same passions or want to join Gary as a member today, visit 24hourdallas.org! #TheNighttimeIsForEveryone

[Coffee & Chat] - MY edition 🇲🇾 (Yeah gotta make it happen since I fly here once in a while 😂 ) Met up with Ivy Hew, who runs one of the most engaged F&B communities in MY, F&Bconnects. It's amazing how she achieved an engaged community and is still going strong after COVID-19 (as most private communities have died down). It's even more amazing to hear that her community members stepped up and volunteered to help her run different aspects of the function, such as marketing, gen sec etc. Got to learn from her on 1. How she helped newer F&Bs negotiate on how to deal with landlord demands on negotiating for higher traffic spaces in prestigious malls in KL. 2. How SG companies go into MY and how to navigate them. We are grateful for such partners and also appreciate the value in what we have done for community members such as Mr Fish to scale towards their 10th outlet in KL. Looking forward to more! 🐟 P:S if any F&B leaders are keen on the above topic or would like to be part of the engaged community, do let me know, and I could do the link up :) P:S:S - If any F&B leaders are keen on Coffee and Chat MY edition, let me know too! Perhaps I could meet ya all during my next trip 😀 #FNB #laborcost #scale #operations #retention

'Tis the season to be jolly, and in the realm of retail asset management, the holiday spirit takes center stage! Gearing up for Christmas is not just about decking the halls; it's about creating a vibrant, festive atmosphere that brings communities together. One shining example is the Castle Square Christmas event, where the magic of the season comes alive. Christmas isn't just about decor; it's also about supporting the heartbeat of retail – the tenants. We play a crucial role in collaborating with tenants, ensuring their offerings align with the festive spirit. Whether it's special promotions, holiday-themed products, or engaging storefront displays, tenants become an integral part of the seasonal spectacle. Beyond the tinsel and trimmings, the true essence of Christmas lies in community. The Castle Square Christmas event isn't just a gathering; it's a hub of joy where neighbors come together. From carolers serenading shoppers to Santa spreading cheer, these events forge lasting connections among community members. #community #retail #christmas2023 #commercialrealestate Get Living
