Currently, the Hankyu Department Store in Umeda, Osaka, is hosting an exhibition titled “Heidi, Girl of the Alpsアルプスの少女ハイジ”. Visiting this exhibition profoundly reminded me of the immense power of Japanese anime. This particular anime was broadcast weekly in Japan in 1974, achieving a staggering 23% viewership rate. It’s common to hear about young people from abroad being drawn to study in Japan, inspired by Japanese anime. However, what struck me about “Heidi” was how it must have introduced many Japanese girls to the lifestyle and culture of people living in the mountainous regions of Europe, particularly Switzerland and Germany. Though based on a Swiss novel by Johanna Spyri, the anime adaptation by Japanese creators, especially the genius animator Hayao Miyazaki宮崎駿, brought Heidi to life in a way that perhaps even surpassed the original. Through the lens of Japanese anime technology, not only is Japan showcased to the world, but European culture is also conveyed to Japan. Anime, with its ability to transcend language barriers, serves as an excellent medium to introduce various cultures to people worldwide. #HeidiExhibition #OsakaEvents #MiyazakiHayao #SwissCulture #GermanCulture #CulturalAppreciation #AnimeAsABridge #WorldCultures #CreativeStorytelling #HankyuDepartmentStore #AnimeImpact #CulturalExchange #Heidi #JapanAnimation #GlobalInfluence #Storytelling

During our artistic pilgrimage to Japan, we were constantly amazed by the depth and diversity of its art scene, with each gallery and museum offering a unique narrative. It was in this backdrop that we encountered "Contact", a 2019 mix media installation by Mé. This piece, a brainchild of the collaborative efforts of KOJIN Haruka, MINAMIGAWA Kenji, and MASUI Hirofumi, epitomizes the magic that arises when individual brilliance coalesces. The artwork, with its solidified black sea waves, serves as a contemplative journey into the ocean's boundless and detailed facets. Kojin's philosophy resonated deeply with us, emphasizing the ocean's ever-evolving essence. From a bird's-eye view, the ocean sprawls endlessly, but as one ventures closer, it reveals its undulating waves, eventually distilling into its core essence. "Contact" encapsulates this transformative experience, offering a panoramic yet detailed view of the ocean. As we introduce this masterpiece to you, our hope is that it kindles feelings of marvel and introspection, mirroring the profound resonance it had with our souls. #méjourney #japanesetapestry #contactinsight #oceanicduality #kojinreflections #artandexploration #wavesofemotion #mécanvas #japanesegallery #natureandartistry #modernart #artl…

Japan is a country steeped in rich cultural traditions and technological advancements. From its ancient history and unique customs to its modern pop culture and cutting-edge innovations, Japan offers a fascinating tapestry of contrasts. In terms of history, Japan's past is characterized by periods of isolation, feudal rule, and significant cultural exchange with China. The samurai, with their code of honor, played a pivotal role during feudal times, shaping the nation's identity. Japanese traditional arts, such as tea ceremony, ikebana (flower arranging), and calligraphy, showcase a deep appreciation for aesthetics and mindfulness. These practices continue to be revered, even as Japan rapidly embraces modernity. The world knows Japan for its pop culture phenomena. Manga and anime have gained global popularity, transcending cultural boundaries. Characters like Hello Kitty and franchises like Pokémon have become iconic symbols of Japanese creativity. #snsinstitutions #snsdesignthinking #designthinking

“Silence isn’t empty. It’s full of answers.” - Unknown A couple of years ago, I took time away from social media to be silent and learn the art of silence. What I learned: 1) Being silent has taught me to slow down, reflect, process, and quietly define the pros and cons before taking action. 2) Instead of listening and wanting to jump in with a thought, listen carefully to the words in silence and observe subtle cues in actions and behaviors. 3) Time alone to meditate/reflect and forget about the trials and tribulations of yesterday and tomorrow and be silent in the moment. (alone meditation can happen at home, at the beach, or in a garden) 4) Instead of constantly running, the silence has allowed me to let go and listen to my inner self and heart. To silently listen to my instincts and let them guide me because they will tell me the truth. Be at peace and be happy with where I am today. As a business leader, how has being silent served you? Location: Topkapi Palace - Istanbul, Turkey Topkapı Palace Museum exhibits the imperial collections of the Ottoman Empire and maintains an extensive collection of books and manuscripts in its library. They are in a palace complex that served as the administrative center and residence of the imperial Ottoman court from about 1478 to 1856. It opened as a museum in 1924, a year after the establishment of the Republic of Turkey. The Topkapı Palace Museum is notable not only for its architecture and collections but also for the history and culture of the Ottoman Empire that it recalls. Torii Bridges - This 5th Bridges Concept Development proposes to use the iconic archetype of the Torii (Japanese sacred gate or traditional arch that is usually placed at the entrance of Shinto shrines) for a new aesthetic configuration of bridges in Japan. Since the objective of a Torii is to mark the border between the profane land and the sacred land, we could say that these bridges would become the sacred and purifying transition of those who pass through them, and why not the purification of the return to home? Complete series: https://lnkd.in/e-M9ieUi Story music from the movie Letters from Iwo Jima. Composers - Kyle Eastwood, Michael Stevens. While bonsai has its origins in Japan and is strongly associated with Japanese culture, it is not exclusively a Japanese form of art. Bonsai-like practices and techniques have been employed in various forms and cultures throughout history. China, for example, had a similar tradition known as "penjing," which involved cultivating miniature landscapes and trees. Additionally, other countries and cultures have developed their own interpretations of miniature tree cultivation. Today, bonsai is a global hobby and art form, and enthusiasts from around the world participate in its practice. Various styles and species of trees are used, and each region may have its unique approach to bonsai. So, while it has strong Japanese roots, it has transcended cultural boundaries and is appreciated and practiced internationally.
