We can learn so much from wolves. Did you know all wolf packs have an alpha male and female? There is something to be said about joint leadership, the yin and yang balance. When wolf packs travel or hunt, they follow one another's footprints in the snow to conserve energy. Just as in business, you don't need to reinvent the wheel everyday. Good leadership creates the footprint (the vision) in which the pack follows, contributing their skills to the pack. There are no 'subgroups' within a pack. Great leaders create leaders. Scaling your organization requires a flatter heirarchy. As apex predators, wolves do not care for their sick or weak. They are left behind because wolves are not equipped to handle caring for the sick. As humans, we are more compassionate and have the ability to care for our sick. In business, there is a time when letting someone go must happen. (See my post later this week discussing how this can be a big favor to an employee who is struggling to succeed!) In the end, leadership is about serving your pack. If you aren't doing what is best for your pack and prioritizing your own ambitions first, you are not a good leader. #leadership #servantleader #greatleaders

A tugboat pulls and drags ships to ensure their safety in getting home. But the lighthouse? It stands tall, beaming light to guide ships home. Guiding without dragging. That's key. Instead of pulling people along, seek those who resonate with your vision, who can see the light, and willingly follow it. When your vision becomes your light, it attracts individuals who believe in it, and things align effortlessly. It starts with one person, then another joins, and soon, a collective momentum builds. Not only that, if you surround yourself with like-minded individuals who match or exceed your pace, it will only make your light brighter. And when your light starts to burn out, they'll be there not to let you give up and push you forward. It can take someone nudging you forward, just as two Boston friends guided a Texas girl who is a wimp when it's cold to see a lighthouse close-up. For some reason, I wanted to see a lighthouse in Boston. They were a lighthouse guiding me, chatting, and distracting me as we walked across the very windy levee; they were the people to drive me to my goal. It's about reciprocation. Find people who can be your light and be that guiding force for others, too. When everyone takes on their role as a beacon, it propels everyone forward. #Leadership #Visionary #Guidance #TeamEmpowerment

Marble Run - such a simple activity yet why is it so good for enhancing teamwork? Marble run is a valuable tool for role allocation within a team, as it highlights individual strengths, communication skills, and decision-making prowess, assisting in identifying natural leaders and collaborators for effective task distribution. It's also just quite a fun activity to do on a corporate event. #corporateevent #teambuilding #corporatesportsday

Competition and Cooperation: The Power of Coopetition 🤝 In the dynamic business world, 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻—the fusion of competition and cooperation—emerges as a powerful strategy. And who is the best teacher to show us this way of living and working? Nature. Imagine an ecosystem where diverse entities collaborate, achieving tasks they could never accomplish alone. Instead of competing against one another, they unite and cooperate, creating a resilient business ecosystem capable of thriving in any environment. An example of what Coopetition is not: Working in Silos! - A significant challenge in many businesses is the silo mentality, where departments work in isolation rather than collaboratively. According to a survey by the American Management Association, 𝟴𝟯% 𝙤𝙛 𝙚𝙭𝙚𝙘𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨 𝙨𝙖𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙨𝙞𝙡𝙤𝙨 𝙚𝙭𝙞𝙨𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙚𝙨, 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙧𝙚𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙚𝙙 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙮. Breaking down these silos through coopetition can foster better communication and collaboration, leading to improved outcomes. Businesses can adopt coopetition by fostering environments where teams collaborate with competitors to achieve common goals. This strategy can lead to shared resources, combined expertise, and greater market resilience. Take a moment (3 minutes) and watch this video. This is an excellent example of how nature shows what Coopetition means. How can your business leverage coopetition to enhance resilience and innovation? #coopetition #leadership #emotionalintelligence #psychology #organizationaldevelopment

Saw this on another platform and thought I'd share. I agree. Every leadership moment isn't self-absorbed and pleasant. You will be misunderstood, criticized and more. As someone who has held(still holding) a leadership role, it is important that employees, followers and the like understand that we are humans such as yourself. We are bound to make mistakes, get it wrong, etc. Employees show some grace. Leaders are managing multiple tasks, personalities and then some. Instead of heavily relying on the leader to lead you, it is just as important that you learn to lead yourself.🙂 If you don't feel you are being led appropriately, leave. It is ok to unfollow. A true leader will understand they are not your leader.

Notice anything odd about this photo? Sandhill cranes are common in this area, but the way these four were behaving seemed off to me. Normally I would pass by them, but today I noticed something odd. Notice it yet? They all four have their heads down! No one was assigned to keep watch in case of danger. Like these sandhill cranes, we often keep our heads down. It is so easy to keep your eyes focused on the ground looking at what's right in front of you, focusing on what is most urgent. We do this as individuals, as families, and as organizations. We get so wrapped up in doing what is right in front of us, we forget why we were doing it in the first place. Right in front of us is a great big world! We just have to have the awareness to lift our heads and see it. -- Through Iron Warrior Coaching, I help humble, passionate, and purposeful family leaders as they strive to lift up their eyes to make Christ known in their homes and businesses. Curious to learn more? DM me—I would love to walk with you through this journey. ✨ #VisionaryLeadership #FamilyFirst #IronWarriorCoaching

Transitioning Leadership Amidst the "#SilverTsunami" 💡 Taking the reins as the new CEO of a family-affiliated business can be both a thrilling and daunting experience. For someone stepping into this pivotal role, understanding the intricate dynamics of the company while identifying underlying issues is crucial. Recognizing the need for an unbiased perspective is the first step toward effective leadership and organizational growth. Transitioning to a leadership role, especially in a family business, can be intimidating for new and seasoned CEOs alike. There's often a fear of losing control or disrupting established practices. However, engaging a third-party consultant can provide a fresh, objective assessment of the company's talent, operations, and overall strategy. This external expertise can uncover areas for improvement that may not be visible from within, ensuring that no critical issue goes unnoticed. Additionally, having a coach on the side acts as a hidden tool, offering a sounding board for observations and decisions, providing guidance, and helping to navigate the complexities of the transition. For example, we recently supported a new CEO in a similar situation. They recognized issues within their sales department, particularly with their Head of Sales. We conducted a thorough assessment and identified several gaps in performance and strategy. Working closely with the CEO, we assisted in recruiting a new Head of Sales whose capabilities and track record aligned with the company's vision and goals. Post-recruitment, we built out a comprehensive roadmap for managing this new leader, including setting clear KPIs and developing detailed playbooks. This ensured not only the success of the new Head of Sales but also empowered the CEO and the entire leadership team with a structured approach to drive growth and efficiency. With the "silver tsunami" of Baby Boomer retirements, many businesses are undergoing leadership transitions, often to the next generation. By embracing this external expertise and leveraging the support of a coach, the new CEO can develop a clear roadmap for success. The consultant’s recommendations will guide strategic decisions, foster talent development, and drive innovation, while the coach offers continuous support and valuable insights. This proactive approach demonstrates a commitment to excellence and positions the company for sustainable growth. Transitioning leadership with a non-biased point of view and a trusted advisor not only strengthens the organization but also builds a legacy of adaptive and forward-thinking leadership. Embracing this process is a crucial step in ensuring long-term success and stability for the company. If you need similar support, submit your request via https://lnkd.in/eTvWu-26

Be it technology or nature, the advent of change propels shifting of minds and behavior. In this video it’s fascinating to see the shift in nature when 14 wolves are introduced into the Yellowstone National Park.We see similar transformations in organizations that are embracing new leadership mindsets in this era of AI. I can think of quite a few leaders who act as either wolves or prey. The key here is to drive an empathy led organization that helps shifts human behaviors in the right way forward. Which role do you play and how are you helping change the face of transformation in your organization? #changewithempathy #changeisgrowth #mindsetshiftwithai

Patterns is an utterly brilliant film. In running a business or an organization, how do leaders at the very top usher in change at the leadership level? What happens when a ruthless, hard-driving CEO promotes a superperformer with a ruthless agenda; ease out a first-among-equals peer who he doesn’t see eye to eye with, but can’t fire because of his sheer seniority. Chances are you would have experienced this in your organization or work-life. A must-watch for those grappling with human dilemmas around ethics, morality & leadership behaviour in an organizational setting. #leaders #leadership #workethics #OD #humanresources #HR
