Every month, the Selby Jennings and DSJ Global brands take part in 3rd Thursday at Phaidon International Tampa - an opportunity for us to get out of the office as a company and engage in some form of teambuilding (provided it doesn't get too competitive). For June, we have Kathleen Miller to thank for arranging an afternoon at Shuffle Tampa, where we got stuck into a shuffleboard and cornhole competition. Want to find out more about the role you can play in our team and culture this year? Reach out to Kaitlyn Midgley or Julie Giaimo to find out more. Retail, Foodservice & Wholesale SME / Produce Industry Veteran / Relationship Builder / Writer & Columnist / Connector
As I usually do I like to share personal stories and how those experiences have impacted me throughout my career. I believe Presence and Engagement within the given industry we are connected to provides great power and influence to how we develop our skills and gain knowledge and just as important (maybe more importantly) - how we contribute of our expertise, insights and perspectives and from those we gain value which is leveraged to benefit our own business, and relationships. The barrier to engagement...most often it's time, second is a monetary consideration. But when one considers engagement as an investment in themselves and their business suddenly perspectives are reconsidered on what they will gain from those experiences. But it takes commitment and effort...there is no magic trick to share. To be a champion, you have to be in the game otherwise the sideline is as far as one can go. https://lnkd.in/g_hdZZ_M

I love this team. Last Thursday, our team took a bold step towards becoming world-class. We blocked off our calendars and invested in our relationships with each other, making team dynamics our top priority. Over the next six months, we will be working regularly with an expert in industrial organization to help us achieve our goal. Some may call it a futile effort, but I see it as an opportunity to be part of something truly great. I couldn’t have been more thrilled by the engagement of the team during the sessions. As a fiercely competitive person, I refuse to settle for mediocrity. I want us to be the best at our craft, to be an organization that people recognize for our excellence. That's why I'm willing to take this risk and invest both time and money in our success. Ultimately, I care. And it starts with the people I work with. After our first morning doing different experiential team building exercises, we spent the afternoon at TopGolf to have lunch and reflect on the day. I think the team also enjoyed watching me whiff many swings. When the waiters brought out a plate with "CRDN Team Building Day" written on it in caramel and chocolate, my first thought was to lick it. (Saner minds prevailed...) And then I asked the waitresses, "do you do this for all events?" They laughed and quipped, "only for the people we like!" What an incredible team. We are just getting started. Consider joining us if you want to be a part of something great. #teamwork #industrialorganizationalpsychology #excellence #success

As an industry we often talk about what creates a positive culture within a company. Traditions like these give you insight into what builds culture here at Champion.
At Champion, our holiday season sparkles with cherished traditions, and the New Hire Ornament presentation is a standout. Each year, we welcome our new team members who add a personal touch by presenting an ornament that reflects their unique identity or interests. This heartfelt sharing is more than a ritual; it's a celebration of our growing family. As these ornaments find their place on the Champion tree, they symbolize the diverse and rich tapestry of our team. This endearing tradition warms our hearts and brightens our festive season, year after year!

“Why are you not having fun? I specifically requested it!” Everyone knows that the best fun is mandated fun, which is why I’m chuffed to have been appointed Yolk Brands’ (and probably the world's) first Ultimate Fun Officer. It officially makes me the most senior clown in F&B. Sorry, Ronald, it’s just not your year. While it is, of course, all about fun, the UFO position has been created to help us have serious public discussion about company culture. And everyone knows there’s no one better than me for having serious discussions. So why UFO? Because I’m out of this world. (Gosh that’s going to be a killer line on Bumble, BRB.) No, first and foremost we want to make Yolk Brands a fun place to work - if you know me you’ll know I’m pretty laid back and don’t things too seriously. I see no reason that can’t combine with offering amazing, high-quality work, whether you’re in an office or a restaurant. So we hope to make fun a defining part of the Yolk Brands’ culture. But it’s only one of four pillars we’ve introduced this year. I am available for press interviews to talk about all of them, but I’m really more the fun guy - I even come with my own red squeezy nose. (P.S. Did you know the court jester position was one of the most privileged in court in the Middle Ages? Or is this just something every clown tells themself...)

Wednesday Q&A "Is it appropriate to drink alcohol at corporate events if it is served?" There's no straightforward ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answer to this question, but let's differentiate between Formal and Team Building events. 🍷 At FORMAL gatherings like award ceremonies or official receptions, it's perfectly acceptable to have a drink, but wisdom lies in moderation. Although everyone has different tolerances, limiting yourself to a maximum of two glasses of wine or cocktails per event is a good rule of thumb. 🍸 It's better to stay sharp and engaged rather than become the main character of a story that'll be retold for all the wrong reasons.🤦🏻♀️ A drink in more relaxed settings like team outings or holiday PARTIES might be a great way to relax and connect with colleagues. However, moderation is still crucial. Alcohol should enhance the fun, not lead to regrettable dance moves or unintended speeches😭 Regardless of the event's nature, adopting a conservative approach is wise. Enjoy alcohol responsibly, and remember that you're still in a professional setting. Remember the old joke about a training class called "How to restore your reputation after the company party"? Aim never to attend it!! P.S. While drafting my response to this question, I wondered: How would you answer it?

Annual recognition event: honoring our colleagues! Today we held our annual recognition event, a special occasion where we celebrate the extraordinary achievements of our colleagues from High Five Health Promotion and Westfield Health. This event reminds us of the importance of acknowledging not only successes but also the positive impact a colleague has on their team and the company culture, celebrating both achievements and personal qualities. Our core values play an essential role in this recognition: - We Care: the ones that have shown they genuinely care about others, whether it’s our customers, colleagues, or the community. Their empathy and commitment make a world of difference. - We Are Explorers: this one is for the pioneers, those who aren’t afraid to explore new paths and embrace innovation. Their curiosity and creativity drive us forward continually. - We Own It: this category recognizes those who take responsibility and deliver results. They are reliable, proactive, and their dedication inspires us all to do our best work. - We Are In It Together: here, we honor the team players who foster collaboration. Their ability to connect people and work together makes us stronger and more united. Each winner has demonstrated themselves exceptionally in one of these core values. Thanks to everyone who made this celebration possible and to all our colleagues for their ongoing dedication and hard work!

Giver of Names, Builder of Brands | Crafting strategy-powered names and distinctive brands that stand out in the marketplace.
Two of the biggest catering companies in Cincinnati fell in love and got hitched. We had the honor of helping them come up with the new name that's helping everyone else also fall in love with them! When Funky's and Vonderhaar's realized there would be great synergies if they combined forces, it was clear they'd need something fresh and exciting to call the new entity. (Funkyhaar's and Vonderfunk's had been quickly ruled out, thank goodness, because who would swipe right on that?!) We wanted the new name to speak to the attributes the two caterers already shared, chief among them a relentless focus on delivering an incredible experience that goes above and beyond their clients' expectations. As usual, we generated many hundreds of names that explored about 8 different semantic ideas, narrowed it down to the top contenders, and then helped our lovely, enthusiastic clients focus on the handful they were most excited about for deeper legal review. And we did something BrandTrue has come to be known for: we once again worked on adding oomph to the communication by zhuzhing the descriptor that comes after the ownable name. Introducing DelightMore, Events To Remember, which is now Cincinnati’s leading catering company for personalized events of every size and shape. You can check out some of BrandTrue's other case studies here: https://lnkd.in/gm2KUwyY And go visit the happy newlyweds at their beautiful new home here: https://delightmore.com/ What do you think of this happily ever after? #brandtrue #brandnaming #naming #delightmore

Sometimes it’s something as simple as attending your works annual party that is organised by your brilliant store team, that makes you realise that what you do is absolutely worth all the blood, sweat and tears. A very comical awards ceremony at the @marksandspencer White City store party culminated in the spotlight turning on the store manger (me) to present a video message from the team to award me with a ‘lifetime achievement’ award. Some humbling and very touching messages were recorded which was all very unexpected and completely unnecessary, but gave me a realisation that how you engage, behave and interact with the people you work with has a lasting impact. Being courteous, having manners, leading with transparency is something I have learnt to do by understanding that ultimately, people work for people. Heirachy is necessary but is only truly affective when applied in the right way. This should never stop you from connecting with the people that ultimately make the machine work and deliver the results. Get to know your team, regardless of how many of them there are, know their names, roll your sleeves up, work shoulder to shoulder and be appreciative of what they do for you. Tonight has taught me that leadership of people is a constant, but a constant privilege. And if your teams give you the nod of appreciation, which they did tonight, it makes it all worthwhile. #whitecitymarksandspencer #centrallondon #centrallondonacademy
