This event has brought together industry leaders and experts to discuss the future of hydrogen energy, explore innovative solutions, and forge valuable connections. The panel will discuss the current trajectory of hydrogen deployment to meet 2030 net-zero commitments. While the political support for low-emission hydrogen remains robust, implementation must catch up. Forty-one governments have established hydrogen strategies, with some early adopters revising and raising ambitions, as well as introducing industrial strategies that focus on hydrogen technologies. TEESSIDE LEADS THE WAY ON HYDROGEN 💪 Brilliant bit of news that TWO Teesside hydrogen projects, bp’s HyGreen Teesside and EDF’s Tees Green Hydrogen project, have moved to the next step of government funding rounds. ⏩ This is a real step forward for both projects, which if developed will help reduce our industrial emissions by supplying hydrogen to the manufacturing and chemicals and processing sector here. Green hydrogen is currently enjoying unprecedented political and commercial momentum, with the number of policies and projects around the world expanding rapidly over the last 12 months. With hydrogen now a central part of many nations’ decarbonisation plans, there remains an elephant in the room; how do we produce clean green hydrogen at the volumes needed to support this burgeoning hydrogen ecosystem, at comparable prices to grey or blue Hydrogen? Dastur Energy notes momentum on Blue Hydrogen at global events Dastur Energy keenly follows global events around clean energy transition. Earlier this month, at the World Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition 2024 held in Rotterdam, blue hydrogen was at the center of discussions. Despite the attention and momentum around green hydrogen adoption and policy in the last few years, particularly in Europe, there is growing consensus that scaling up the production of blue hydrogen is crucial for successful decarbonization and the transition to a clean energy future. Leading conventional energy producers along with renewable energy experts and hydrogen exporters present at the conference, underscored the vital importance of blue hydrogen in enabling a gradual switch to green hydrogen. While good regulation and technological development are enabling green hydrogen projects, costs and uncertainties about business risks associated with green hydrogen is a key reason why businesses and technology companies, are considering alternatives like blue hydrogen to scale up decarbonization efforts. The goal is to diversify risks and build on the maximum available technology options to push forward on clean energy transition, while at the same time, promoting innovative projects. The importance of hydrogen storage and transportation, i.e., hydrogen infrastructure to drive a hydrogen-based energy system, were other key points raised at the conference.
