Stablecoins represent a potential disruption of the current legacy system of more than 160 currencies worldwide. While Bitcoin may be a better store of value, stablecoins offer a quick way to exit an individual's financial system and tap into the US financial system. Unlike cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, stablecoins aim to maintain a more stable value by being pegged to another asset, such as the US dollar. This enables those in countries with unstable currencies or restrictive financial systems to access the US financial system easily. Moreover, users can conduct transactions with little to no friction costs. Furthermore, stablecoins have the potential to create global financial inclusion since they provide people with access to quick, affordable, and reliable methods of transacting money. By facilitating borderless transactions without intermediaries, stablecoins can help lower transaction fees and improve efficiency within the global financial system. In conclusion, stablecoins are a disruptive innovation that has the potential to challenge the monopoly of traditional fiat currencies. By offering a stable alternative to local currencies, and with the technology underpinning their functionalities, stablecoins could enable improved financial inclusion and reduce the cost of cross-border payments.
