When you choose the benefits of an action, you also choose the drawbacks. If you want to be an author, you can't only choose the finished novel and book signings. You are also choosing months of lonely typing. If you want to be a bodybuilder, you can't only choose the fit body and attention. You are also choosing the boring meals and calorie counting. You have to want the lifestyle, not just the outcomes. Otherwise, it doesn't make any sense being jealous. The results of success are usually public and highly visible, but the process behind success is often private and hidden from view. It's easy to want the public rewards, but also have to want the hidden costs.
Everyone is jealous of the success but not of the process to get there
You can't hack your way to grow a tree and enjoy it's fruits in a day. Work, Time, Care ànd Patience..it takes it all.
Why do the benefits of bodybuilding have to come with boring meals 😭. Scientists, nutritionists, herbalists, anyone. I am calling out to someone to help here😁.
There is a power when you own the entire process and the outcome of your choice. When you make a choice, you have to be ok with the process, the setbacks, the challenges, the risks and the rewards. And on top of it all, you have to enjoy the whole thing, that's what leads to greatness.
Success = (public rewards) + (private costs) Choose the lifestyle, not just the outcomes.
I often advise my mentees at Stanford to conduct informational interviews with people doing the jobs that they think they want to have. The critical question to ask, in my opinion: What do you actually do all day? I completely agree that as a writer much of your time is spent lonely, sitting in front of the computer, butt in the chair. And also a great deal of time is spent trying to promote yourself, which is exhausting and a completely different skill set!
Everything has a price.
Love it! This perfectly captures the reality of achieving health and fitness goals. It is not just about the end result, but embracing the entire journey. I often remind clients that sustainable change comes from loving the process - the daily choices, habits, and sometimes challenges. This perspective also helps to build resilience and long-term success.
Fall in love with the process, and the rewards will follow. 🚀🔥
