A landmark public-private partnership aimed at advancing infectious disease surveillance and research across Europe. Building on the foundations of the COVIDRIVE and DRIVE platforms, id.DRIVE brings together pharmaceutical companies, public health institutes, and research groups to expand its focus on infectious diseases, including COVID-19, influenza, RSV, and more. Starting mid-2024, id.DRIVE will conduct surveillance studies on various respiratory pathogens, enhancing our understanding of their impact and the effectiveness of treatments. This collaborative effort includes partners like AstraZeneca, Janssen, GSK, and others, covering a network across 13 European countries. id.DRIVE is a testament to the power of collaboration in addressing global health challenges. Meaningful community engagement in Global Fund Country Coordinating Mechanisms (CCMs) goes beyond tokenistic approaches. The RISE study shows that while community representation on CCMs is high, engagement often declines in later stages of the grant cycle. Authentic engagement involves empowering communities with the skills, information, and support they need to actively participate in decision-making. This may require providing guidance and assistance to help communities navigate complex procedures and ensure their voices are heard.
