Cultural bias against women has significantly diminished in developed societies, yet women's status and traditions still lag behind that of men globally. Jesus was a proponent of women's dignity and equality, but early Christian leaders restricted their roles to conform to societal norms of the time. This marginalization has persisted for over two millennia, highlighting the urgent need for change. Overcoming entrenched biases and prejudices against women in the Christian Tradition requires a collective effort from all individuals, regardless of their background or beliefs. Embracing exclusivity and equality is essential to creating a more just and equitable society for all individuals, irrespective of gender. The time has come to challenge outdated perceptions and empower women to fully participate in all aspects of religious life and leadership. By recognizing and addressing historical injustices, we can pave the way for a more inclusive and progressive future for women in the Christian tradition. This post picks up from my previous post that referenced the white supremacists who were revolting over the diversity that was displayed at the RNC based on the number of non-white guest speakers and audience member attendees including JD Vance’s wife on the first night of the RNC. I made the argument that the Republican Party stands to lose a larger swath of younger and non-white voters if they are unable to separate themselves from white supremacist rhetoric and extremism. We have a younger generation that is far more progressive in their views of race, interracial marriage, same sex marriage, gender/gender roles, sexuality, women’s rights, civil rights, LGBTQ rights, etc. Furthermore, we live in an America that is far more diverse and representative of various races, religions, languages, and cultures. This video examines the South Asian community within Wake County in Morrisville, North Carolina. The South Asian population is the second highest population within this community where 70% voted for Biden in 2020. As this video indicates, South Asians are more centrist and pro-business. Many are actively involved in politics at the local and national level and/or have careers in science, law, and tech and they have political interests related to education and immigration.

Sixty years back #martinlutherkingjr delivered the famous ‘I Have a Dream’ speech on the steps of the #Lincoln Memorial during the March on #Washington that manifested the ethos of the #Emancipationproclamation signed in 1863 and the founding principles of the USA. The appointment of Claudine Gay simply solidifies the true spirit of the founding fathers of the #US Constitution. The world witnessed today that a significant step has been achieved in realizing the dream of MLK Jr. through the appointment of Claudine Gay as Harvard University’s first non-white President. Her appointment as the 30th #President of Harvard University is truly historic. As #UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres remarked “Centuries of #patriarchy, #discrimination, and harmful #stereotypes have created a huge #gendergap in #science and #technology.” This is also the right moment to remind the world of #genderequality and lend unequivocal support to eradicate discriminatory practices and structures. Persistent inequality and denial of #fundamentalrights that overlap with #racism and #genderinequality diminish #socialcohesion and undermine #democracy. Creating a rights-based #social structure, implementing #inclusive policies, and investing in #education are the only solutions to #eradicate #discrimination and #inequality and achieve #sdg sustainable development goals. Do you know what the definition of ruthlessness is? "The quality of lacking pity or compassion for others." I'm yet to come across a leadership model that identifies ruthlessness as a critical quality in a leader. What I do know is that when powerful people start to behave in a ruthless way they give everyone else permission to do the same. And that is when vulnerable and marginalised people are dehumanised and hurt. When I stood as a candidate for councillor with Labour earlier this year I was treated ruthlessly for my position on Race Equality and other Equality, Diversity and Inclusion issues. I had hoped it was a case of the exception rather than the rule but an insitution whose leader prides himself on ruthlessness will never be a place diverse leadership can thrive. An institution lacking in compassion will never be able to deliver for the people that need it most.
