Medical School Clearing Advice Last year the following had places in clearing: ◾️Buckingham Medicine Clearing (private med school) ◾️St George’s ◾️King's ◾️Hull York ◾️Queen Mary's Malta (private) Then there were some like UCL and Leicester who on clearing day offered places via their waitlist and Sheffield who, if you called them, and had the grades offered an interview (they did not formally appear in clearing). This year lots more medical schools will use their waitlist rather than clearing- which is more cost effective for them. Remember if you enter clearing you are still competing with a large number of people for a few spaces, you WILL need to attend an interview (online usually) and most will require a competitive UCAT score as well good A level grades. But a small chance is better than no chance! #clearing #medicalschool #ucas

To conclude our blog series for #premed students considering another masters/certification prior to medical school, we're addressing linkage programs. These are post-bacc programs and SMPs that allow students to skip their “glide year” between their post-bacc program or SMP and medical school, and matriculate into an affiliated med school the fall after their current program ends. Check out our post linked below to learn more about these programs. #medschooladmissions #medschoolapplicants #medschoolapplicant #premedproblems #applypoint

Susanna Fowler, third-year pharmacy student, completed her second-year introductory pharmacy practice experience (IPPE) at the Tuscaloosa Department of Veteran Affairs (VA). Check out what Susanna said about her experience below. ⏬ 👉 What were the most valuable lessons or insights you gained during your institutional IPPE experience? "The most valuable insight I gained during my Institutional IPPE at the Tuscaloosa VA was about how home-based primary care works. It is so important to have multiple different members of a healthcare team to treat a patient. Every healthcare professional will advocate for their patients in different ways, and getting to see different teams create plans was remarkable. As a student, I have learned how to better treat my future patients by focusing on what is important to them." 👉 What advice would you offer to other pharmacy students embarking on similar experiences? "I would say to have an open mind. Be open to any and every experience that becomes available to you and be willing to do new things. Remind yourself why you are in pharmacy school. Remember that what you get out of every experience is what you put into it." 👉 What specific pharmacy practices or procedures did you learn or observe during your institutional IPPE that you believe could benefit other students? "We got to spend time in three different areas of the VA. First, I saw home-based primary care out of Selma, then the inpatient pharmacy and the outpatient pharmacy. If you are interested in seeing a patient from the clinic all the way to their prescriptions being dispensed, then this is the perfect place to do your Institutional IPPE or APPEs."

As a Graduate Medical Education (GME) Program Coordinator, identifying and engaging with stakeholders is crucial for the success of the residency programs. The primary stakeholders include the hospital administration, faculty, residents, medical students, and external accrediting bodies. Each group plays a vital role in the program’s functioning and success. Hospital administrators ensure the provision of necessary resources and support for the GME programs. Faculty members are essential for providing education and mentorship to the residents, while the residents and medical students are directly impacted by the program’s quality and effectiveness. Additionally, external accrediting bodies ensure that the program meets national standards and guidelines, maintaining the program’s credibility and reputation. #gme #programcoordintor #stakeholder
