With this in mind, the Huntsville leadership team had an amazing time during our annual Leadership Team ride. Strong Communication, Collaboration and Teamwork are just a few qualities of a high performing team. This annual activity is designed to strengthen those areas while allowing time for leaders to enjoy one of the amazing vehicles that we manufacture at the Huntsville/Madison complex. The currency($) deposit of “DEVELOPMENT & RECOGNITION” was made into each leader. At the manufacturing facility level, leaders have the currency($) of “PERFORMANCE” expected and withdrawn daily. It is especially important that the currency($) of “DEVELOPMENT & RECOGNITION” be redeposited back into each individual at a consistent frequency. This exchange of deposits and withdrawals ensures that there is a positive Professional, Personal, Intellectual and Emotional account balance at all times. We are extremely proud of this team and their strong start to 2024. During our strategy session, the team reviewed what was needed to deliver this continued robust performance through the remainder of the year. Can care and high performance really coexist? Here’s Sir Wayne Smith’s take. Values like care are frequently viewed as optional ingredients for high performance.   Smithy has heard it before:   “Often people argue, ‘Yeah, I think it is important to create that sort of stuff, but we've got too much to do on the field without concentrating too much on that.’”    But in Smithy’s experience, care is not only essential, it comes first.   “It's those intangibles like care that help you actually be successful on the field.”   “If you're under pressure coming up to finals, for example, care for yourself, care for each other, care for community. I saw this and just have to share. For me, this screams one of the key themes I work on with my clients “Congratulate Don’t Call” The mutual respect between Kloppe and Slot is so inspiring to see. So many coaches/staff start new positions with the undertone of, this is my club now and what has gone before is not right, let’s fix it. What is different here though, the approach seems to be, this environment is excellent let’s continue to grow. Why is this important? Well think about the impact this has on the current crop of players he has inherited. Most will have strong loyalties to Kloppe and have been a huge part in what Liverpool Football Club looks like now. Slot is saying to them “you have done excellent, I’m now here to help US grow”. The players feel safe, they feel belonging and they have some sense of the direction they are going in. Often new management and staff brings uncertainty, and a lot of change. This can be great for some people, but lethal for others. We see this in all walks of life, people get promoted and think they need to ‘prove’ their worth by knocking everything that has gone before them, instead of acknowledging the positive things in existence and building on them. This can bring a lack of buy in from present staff, because if not done properly can be interpreted as, all you have done before isn’t good enough. Everything I say here, in relation to Slot, is purely as an outsider looking at the information being pushed out, but from what I see, it’s very exciting times for Liverpool. #liverpoolfc #football #management #leadership #leader #highperformance

Lessons from Dan Marino: I grew up a Dolphins fan, and in the mid 80’s that meant I was a Dan Marino fan. Marino had a cannon for an arm. But what was admirable to me, even at a young age, was his command of the field. His intensity, matched with his game mastery, gave him total control of the gridiron. By coordinating his teammates into the best positions, with the best plays, for the best outcome he retired the NFL as the all time passing leader. That's really the job of the Quaterback, make sure everyones in the right spots with the right know-how to make the play successful. That is the same quality that makes a huge impact on our team and thus made its way in our values ideation session.
