Another round of excitement and rebirths to emerge from #Hollywood as #Paramount, the original producer of #thegodfather seeks to re-create itself as a creative-tech hybrid. I am curious to see what the meat on those bones, given the tendency for large companies to use technology at its edges rather than making it a core operational focus. The fact they have now referenced #directoconsumer, #AI, and even #layoffs suggests that they are looking at the right things and understand the difficult challenges for legacy companies to compete in the new era. The fact that David Ellison's father is CEO of Oracle and is part of the deal makes these claims a little more credible. Expect to see more of these #spins as those left reeling from the #streamingwars find their next footing. #innovation

maya is mentioned but I expect to see Houdini and realtime engines take a lead on this eventually. If you’ve used Houdini in post production, game development or even high end VFX you’ll know what I’m talking about. Houdini’s power to move and iterate that has made it such a valuable tool in video games development will make it perfect for this bright new field.
I'm super excited that the news is finally out! I have been trying to get this to work for nearly 10 years and it is finally happening! On top of that we are producing an amazing short with my Martini Giant gang, Erick Schiele and Daniel Thron. I can't wait to tell people more about this!

Variety - Former Amazon Studios Executive Lambasts Studios and Streamers: "Nobody wants to strike. Two film unions striking proves the system is unfair, built to be unfair, and the industry leaders only look out for themselves." - By Nick Vivarelli, John Hopewell "Media CEOs earn nine-figure salaries, while the industry’s creative talent workers need to take Uber gigs. "AMPAS seems to be doing nothing to solve the runaway awards campaign funding. "AI is a real threat to all film people’s jobs — and everyone’s jobs. "Netflix made $900 million on “Squid Game” but the creator received zero dollars in residuals. "Creators do not have access or ownership of the data their work generates. "The streaming ecosystem may eventually shrink to 4 major platforms. Then we’d have sacrificed cable only to replace it with a broadcast-style monopoly. 'Further massive media consolidation is likely. Who’s buying who this week? It always ends in massive layoffs." https://lnkd.in/eu7NN-3J #writersstrike #actorsstrike #studios #streamers #media #entertainment #ai

Scalping has been around long before I went to my first concert in the 70s when we had to stand in line at the record store or venue the night before to get tickets. Equally as big an issue if not more for the fans are the opaque fees and the inability of to scale the ticket systems and keep the bots at bay for large on sales. Dynamic pricing is another. The main beneficiary of anti scalping mechanisims are the acts, promoters and ticket vendors. It’s primarily to capture the revenue that the scalpers get (which the acts deserve) with potentially a secondary benefit to fans. I find it ironic that Ticketmaster has a resale component allowing above face value tickets to be sold while trying to put the heat on scalpers. As long as Ticketmaster is unable to reliably provide the tickets to the end user scalping will exist. Years of complacency due to an insurmountable hold on the ticket business is at least as responsible for the situation if not more. Customer dissatisfaction and potential regulatory action are the motivators here.
I’ve been working closely with Live Nation Entertainment for more than a decade, and I recently joined as Executive Vice President of Corporate and Regulatory Affairs. I joined Live Nation because I love the live experience – sports and music – and it’s an incredibly exciting time for the industry. More artists are touring and more fans are heading to shows than any other time in the history of live. But, we’re also in a critical moment. There’s a lot of misinformation out there about how the industry works. And, with so much demand there’s a lot of motivation for scalpers to get between artists and fans to make a fast buck - and that’s making the ticket buying process a lot harder than it should be. I’m looking forward to getting active on this platform to share the truth on how it all works and the steps that can be taken to make live entertainment even better for artists and fans. Plus, I may share a few concert pics or two. DW

Bringing a team together to accomplish a Live event is challenging. Planning the event from 'set' to 'break down' is vital. The Techengineer's TechBook is the key. It communicates expectations and technical details to the team. It's the 'Playbook' of Events. #video #production #liveevents

One thing that I loved about this demo I did with Mr. David Rosenthal was how he had me create the characters and fine-tune not only the script itself, but also the ideas behind each one. Backstory, situation, addressee...these are all highly relevant! #videogames #voiceactorlife #voiceacting #demo
