There is perhaps no more important mission in the gas markets than to expose young people to the nature and importance of energy security, natural gas' critical role in carbon emissions reduction, support for America's Allies around the globe for energy access, use of a native US resource to support a manufacturing renaissance here in the US...the list goes on. Happy Intern Day! In the course of the past two months, it has been fun and interesting to work with and get to know some of our interns. For many (maybe all?) this is their first fully in-person job experience. When I contrast our intern program this summer with my son's internship with Coke during the pandemic, it's like night and day. Both positive experiences, but very different. I know there is still a lot of discussion around #returntooffice and in our business that discussion usually focuses a lot on investment in office buildings. I wonder the long-term impact on young careers of in-person vs. work from anywhere vs. hybrid internships and early work experience.

A huge welcome to our new League Associate interns, Liam and Phoebe Bucci. Welcome to the JAM team! While the arrival of new talent can feel like a fresh autumn breeze for your team, it is important to remember this exhilarating launch can also be quite intimidating for your new teammates.  🍂🚀 Interns want to make a splash without feeling like a fish out of water. It's our job as veterans to guide them through these uncharted waters. While we teach them the basics, be sure to also remember to provide emotional support too. It will likely take more than a welcome lunch to help them feel truly part of your team. Check out these 3 playful ways to enhance your intern onboarding: 😄 First-day FUN: Make their first day unforgettable! Welcome them with their favorite song, a high-five tunnel, and some goofy questions. It'll help them feel at ease and connected right away. 🎵 Provide options for PLAY: Sign up a company sports team, start an office book club, or have lunchtime music rehearsals. Encouraging interns to playfully connect with their new colleagues , fosters friendships and teamwork. 🕶️ Gift a company kit: Give some company swag, like a hoodie, a hat and perhaps a gift certificate for the local sandwich shop on their first day. This will have them feeling like they fit in on the team from day one.
