It's Mental Health Awareness Week in the UK. As leaders & colleagues, we all have a responsibility to support those around us at all times. We all have mental health, or 'mental fitness'. Sometimes it can be good, sometimes it can be bad. As well as encouraging people to focus on the fundamental cornerstones of mental health: - Diet - Sleep - Nutrition - Exercise We also need to think outside of the box when it comes to supporting people, particularly in the workplace. 1) Make the first move - encourage sharing, by sharing. 2) Change your environment - the workplace is a sanctuary for some. 3) Catch people at their best - don't just wait until someone is struggling, you may be surprised by how open someone is when they are feeling great. The week is for awareness, the action is for always.
