The reason why Amazon and Apple are two of my favorite companies is simply because they embrace the consequences of putting customers first. If they mess up they fix it - and fast. Their first instinct isn’t to dodge the issues but to make the experience as easy and fast as possible. And then you have DoorDash. What a nightmare of customer service trying to fix something they did. Imagine this: 1. You order food 2. They deliver your food to someone else 3. They try to give you someone else’s food 4. You say “sorry, not my food” and don’t take the food (not even the same type of food or same quality or quantity) 5. Dasher logs it as delivered and then realize they made a mistake but can’t reverse it 6. You immediately contact DoorDash to get a refund 7. They refuse the refund because the Dasher said it was delivered 8. You contact them again and they say they will send it to someone to review 9. They issue you credits for a third of the amount 10. You contact them again to say you didn’t get any food and want a refund of the total amount 11. They say they will send it to someone to review… So now I will have to spend more time to try and fix their mistake. This is why they will never be a company that is loved. It will be a service used and the only differentiator will be whether they have a specific restaurant vs a competitor. There will be zero loyalty or love apart from that functionality. To be loved as a brand you have to put the customer first at every single step. Make it easy for them and don’t make them have to do all the work to fix your problem. (Funny thing is I have it all on video thanks to our Ring cameras.)

"Dynamic pricing", once the cornerstone of transport [Airlines every day, Uber when it rains], tried to come for your burger. The Wendy's Company attempted to make shareholders happy last month [but consumer backlash was swift - and they went back to tinker with the idea in the kitchen]. But don't think others aren't waiting to cash in on your peek need of [fill in the blank]. Amazon remains many a brand's measuring stick [longer than your social media post telling them to f*&ck off]. "Amazon, for example, reportedly changes prices millions of times per day, with the average product’s price shifting every 10 minutes" Dynamic Pricing x Your Dinner = The future of food pricing. "In the future, the ideal time to eat a burger won’t be when you’re hungry and really hankering for one. It’ll be the oddest, most awkward hours — late mornings or afternoons, the middle of the night on a Tuesday — the slices of time when prices will be lowest. Not unlike your Uber ride, fast food prices will go up or down depending on demand" So no, you're not losing your mind; all prices are fluctuating at an alarming rate.
