The Indian government has approved two new corridors of Delhi Metro's Phase-IV project, which will improve connectivity and address the growing congestion in the city. But that's not all - these new Metro lines are expected to reinvigorate the real estate markets along the Lajpat Nagar to Saket G-Block and Inderlok to Indraprastha routes. Improved connectivity has the tendency to make locations more desirable for investments, both commercial and residential. Property values tend to soar in the vicinity of metro stations because of the ease of access and shorter commutes that come with being close to public transportation. This can cause a domino effect, with rising demand pushing up real estate costs not only in the immediate area but also in the areas around it. Furthermore, the improved accessibility and foot traffic in these Metro links will boost economic activity and draw stores and companies to these neighbourhoods. The real estate market will gain from this commercial growth and may also witness residential demand in areas close to places of employment. The Indian government has given its approval for the extension of the Pune Metro from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Bhakti-Shakti Chowk in Nigdi, which will expand the city's metro network by approximately 4.413 kilometers. This new section will consist of three elevated stations and is estimated to cost ₹910.18 crore, with an expected completion date in early 2027. Meanwhile, the approval for the Swargate to Katraj route, a vital and heavily traveled segment of the Pune Metro, has been postponed and is currently under review by central authorities due to its higher estimated cost of ₹3,663 crore. It seems that the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) is taking steps to address traffic congestion and pollution on the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway by relocating the Kherki Daula toll plaza to Panchgaon. This move involves transferring approximately 30 acres of land to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The 280-kilometer-long Satellite Town Ring Road (STRR), being built by the National Highway Authority of India, will link 12 significant towns near Bengaluru, including Dobbasapete, Doddaballapura, Devanahalli, Sulibele, Hoskote, Sarjapura, Attibele, Anekal, Tattekere, Kanakapura, Ramanagaram, and Magadi. The Bengaluru Satellite Ring Road project is moving forward quickly, and it is anticipated to be finished by March 2024, far ahead of schedule, according to Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari. According to Gadkari, the project would link eight State Highways and six National Highways, which will assist ease traffic in the city. He further emphasised that after the project is finished, many trucks travelling to other areas of Karnataka won't need to visit Bangalore. It would ease traffic congestion within Bengaluru by offering an alternate route for trucks to circumvent the city's congested neighbourhoods. The STRR project, which was first suggested in 2005, gained impetus after the Narendra Modi administration said that finance and implementation will be handled under the Bharatmala Pariyojana project. It's estimated that the project would cost Rs 15,000 crore. NH-948A is being developed as part of STRR, which is being built in three concurrent phases, while the existing NH-648 is being realigned (old NH-207). The Karnataka government established the Satellite Town Ring Road Planning Authority in 2016 to oversee the construction of STRR. A total of 1,019 square kilometres are under the purview of the STRRPA. There will be 12 linked cities as well as 331 connected villages. In line with the Prime Minister’s vision to transform regional connectivity in the country through construction of new world class transport infrastructure, the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project is being developed. RRTS is a new rail-based, semi-high-speed, high-frequency commuter transit system. With a design speed of 180 Kmph, RRTS is a transformational, regional development initiative, which is designed to provide high-speed trains for intercity commuting every 15 minutes, which can go up to a frequency of every 5 minutes as per requirement. A total of eight RRTS corridors have been identified to be to be developed in NCR, out of which three corridors have been prioritised to be implemented in Phase-I including Delhi – Ghaziabad – Meerut Corridor; Delhi – Gurugram – SNB – Alwar Corridor; and Delhi – Panipat Corridor. The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS being developed at a cost of more than Rs 30,000 crore, and will connect Delhi to Meerut in less than an hour of travel time going through the urban centres of Ghaziabad, Muradnagar, and Modinagar. RRTS being developed in the country, is a state-of-the-art regional mobility solution, and is comparable to the best in the world. It will provide safe, reliable and modern intercity commuting solutions in the country. This significant development took place at CMRL MetroS, Anna Salai, Nandanam, where Mr. Ramesh Chand Meena, I.A.S., Additional Chief Secretary, Special Initiatives, Government of Tamil Nadu, received the reports. Let's dive into the proposed salient features of the Detailed Feasibility Reports (DFRs) for MRTS in these three cities: #Tiruchirappalli: The DFR for Tiruchirappalli envisions a Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) spanning 45 kilometers, comprising two corridors- #Corridor 1 spans 19 kilometers from Samayapuram to Vayaloor, featuring 19 proposed stations. #Corridor 2 stretches 26 kilometers from Thuvakudi to Panjapur, with 26 proposed stations. Please note that the total number of stations for each route will be finalized during further study at the DPR stage. #Tirunelveli: In Tirunelveli, the proposed DFR outlines a Rapid Transit System (RTS) covering a total of 39.07 kilometers, distributed across three corridors- #Corridor 1 extends over 12.39 kilometers from Pettai to Sankanapuram, with 13 proposed stations. #Corridor 2 spans 12.03 kilometers from Palayamkottai to Ponnakudi, featuring 12 stations. #Corridor 3 covers 14.65 kilometers from Sankarnagar to Vasanthnagar, including 15 proposed stations. Similar to Tiruchirappalli, the final count of stations for each route will be determined in subsequent studies at the DPR stage. #Salem: Salem's proposed DFR outlines suitable Rapid Transit Systems (RTS) spanning 35.19 kilometers, distributed across below corridors- #Corridor 1 stretches 17.16 kilometers from Karapuranathar Temple to Ayodhyapattanam Railway Station via Ammapet, with 19 proposed stations. #Corridor 2 spans 18.03 kilometers from Karuppur to Nallikalapatty via Salem Junction Railway Station, featuring 19 stations. The exact number of stations for each route will be established after a thorough alignment study at the DPR stage. While listening to the experts from the PCR in the studios i felt there is a compelling need to change the way we approach the issues of pollution , public transport and policies . An approach that is creative, consultative and pragmatic. For urban conglomerates like NCR ,Bengaluru a larger public debate must be initiated to : 1) Restrict all private vehicles from roads , only cab services , buses and other public transports shall be allowed to use public infrastructure like roads. 2) Discourage finance for private vehicles while encouraging finance for commercial cab services. How would this benefit ? 1) Reduces traffic and pollution 2) Reduces fuel import bill 3) Personal finance gets diverted to other critical necessities instead of a deteriorating NPA like car 4) More space for cycles and pedestrians 5) Reduce road fatalities 6) Govt gets to invest more on social infrastructure like hospitals, educational institutions and certainly public infrastructure projects. We need clean , green , and rapid mobility connecting PEOPLE AND PLACES.

Inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 22 National Highway 🛣 Projects, spanning 268 Km and valued at over ₹4,000 Cr. The ceremony took place in the presence of State Minister Shri H. C. Mahadevappa Ji, MP Shri Pratap Simha Ji, MP Shri S. Muniswamy Ji, MP Sumalatha Ji, and Senior Officials in Mysuru today. Notably, initiatives like the Huliyar-KB cross-Chunchanahalli-Nelligere road aim to enhance connectivity between Mysuru and North Karnataka.
