🔍 New Study Alert: Unveiling the Drivers of Modal Switch from Motorcycles to Public Transport in Southeast Asia In our latest publication, we (Son Tung Nguyen, Mehdi Moeinaddini, Ismaïl Saadi and me) examine the crucial factors influencing commuters' shift from motorcycles to public transport in developing countries, with a focus on Southeast Asia. This study area is pivotal as it sheds light on sustainable mobility solutions in regions where motorcycles are a primary mode of private transport. Key Highlights: 🌏 Extensive review of factors promoting the shift towards public transport in developing countries. 🏍️ Insight into the unique modal shift from motorcycles to public transport, highlighting sustainable mobility paths. 📊 Introduction of a comprehensive theoretical framework to understand and predict these shifts. Most existing studies in this domain rely on models designed for developed countries, which may not fully capture the dynamics in developing regions where motorcycles dominate the streets. Our systematic literature review uncovers directed acyclic graphs (DAGs) to pinpoint intrinsic and extrinsic factors that encourage people to opt for public transport. This exploration adds to our understanding of commuter behaviour in Southeast Asia and proposes a robust theoretical framework for predicting modal shifts in similar contexts worldwide. Our findings offer a fresh perspective and actionable insights for policymakers, urban planners, and researchers keen on promoting sustainable urban mobility. 📖 Read the full study to explore our methodology, findings, and the implications for urban development and policy-making in developing countries. Let's discuss! What are your thoughts on the challenges and opportunities for promoting public transport in regions heavily reliant on motorcycles? #UrbanMobility #SustainableTransport #PublicTransport #SoutheastAsia #motorcycles #vietnam https://lnkd.in/eVVGxTuJ 48 days more free download at: https://lnkd.in/enr5Cehd Special thanks to Délégation générale Wallonie-Bruxelles au Vietnam.
