On the margins of the IPCC Expert Meeting on Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) hosted by the Austrian Ministry of Finance in Vienna, IPCC Chair Jim Skea met today with Magnus Brunner, the Austrian Minister of Finance. They discussed the role of CDR and CCS technologies in carbon neutrality and the financial implications of their use.

Removal also needs energy. It will divert the attention from prevention. 'Prevention is better than cure'.

In spite of the clear fact that GHG emissions elimination is the best solution. There are so many heat trapping gases in our atmosphere. CDR is going to be an essential tool in climate change mitigation and should be pursued - as long as it’s transparently validated, quantified and then verified- the quality of these measurements and their proofs are well assured by following ISO GHG Standards from the ISO 14064 series. The only such Standrds which have been developed by a truly “vested-interest free” organisation in ISO.

I can honestly tell you I am under the impression Magnus Brunner, the Austrian Minister of Finance is a pentecostal fossil fuel lobbyist, I would be very wary of his 'security' team.
