So, now the real work on the CDR, CCS and CCU Methodology Report starts, with the scoping meeting this fall. The Methodology Report is needed to enable countries to put removals generated by methods like DACCS or Enhanced Rock Weathering onto national GHG inventories and account for them under their NDCs.

🇪🇺 Last month, the European Commission unveiled the Industrial Carbon Management Strategy, highlighting the pivotal role of CCUS technologies in achieving net zero goals by 2050.   🔎 At the Carbon Capture and Storage Association, we've put forth a set of recommendations to advance the ICMS:   🔹 Establish a supportive legal framework to implement the actions listed in the ICM Strategy. 🔹 Support the strategic role of CCUS technologies and infrastructures by increasing financial commitments at the EU and Member States levels. 🔹Emphasise the role of international cooperation and alignment of ETS systems to boost the Europe-wide CO2 storage market potential.   #CCUS | #CarbonCapture | #NetZero More details here 👇🏼

If you are a carbon capture and storage (#CCS) company looking to do business in the US, and your business model is dependent on US government funding, subsidies and tax credits, then this report from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) is required reading. The CBO "provides Congress with objective, nonpartisan, and timely information, analyses, and estimates related to federal economic and budgetary decisions." In other words, this report is CCS 101 for any congressman who wants to increase, decrease or eliminate CCS funding. #carboncapture #ccus

Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) will play a critical role in achieving the emission reduction goals of the Paris Agreement. Scaling up CCS will require significant investment and international cooperation. However, Article 6 of the Paris Agreement is currently not conducive towards facilitating international cooperation in CCS.
