As part of the Innovation Fund-awarded project "Wise Browsing, Safe Posting – A community-based approach to safer social media", we have been actively monitoring and identifying digital risks targeting Ukrainian refugees. We use real-world examples to illustrate the potential threats, equipping refugees with the necessary knowledge to safeguard themselves in digital spaces. With translations available in both English and Ukrainian, these videos stand as tools to both educate and empower refugees. This is one example, developed together with that genius of Márton Elődi. 🇺🇦 As we mark the onset of the third year of full-scale war in Ukraine, the relentless assault by Russian forces on the northern border of the Kharkiv region continues unabated. The gravity of the situation cannot be overstated. According to the UN Refugee Agency's latest report: An estimated 14.6 million individuals within Ukraine require urgent multisectoral humanitarian aid, with 3.7 million among them having been displaced by the ongoing conflict. Furthermore, by the close of 2023, nearly 2.8 million refugees from Ukraine are recorded in other countries in Europe Tragically, every day, Ukrainian civilians pay the ultimate sacrifice. The toll of this protracted conflict on human lives is immeasurable. In the face of such adversity, one cannot help but wonder: How long can Ukraine endure the ravages of war?

The interactive dashboard allows you to navigate information in the ACAPS #Ukraine regional dataset on #refugees' hosting countries. It provides visualisations in the form of graphs and metrics on refugees' population figures, their conditions in host countries, and the #humanitarian response capacity in six neighbouring countries; #CzecRepublic, #Hungary, #Moldova, #Poland, #Romania, and #Slovakia. The Masterdataset on the other hand consolidates key indicators of the Ukraine crisis for the regular comparison and analysis of available data and the tracking of historical data trends and changes in the humanitarian situation. It puts together a variety of indicators on the Ukrainian situation and several pre-existing datasets collected from ACAPS and external sources. Access the dashboards here: https://lnkd.in/dJy9qWxt

https://lnkd.in/eCHzrrRF One year ago, the residents of Khartoum were woken up by the sound of gunshots. What we initially hoped would be sporadic fighting escalated into a full-blown battle within hours. The capital was then plunged into the hell of shelling, heavy artillery fire and urban warfare. The war of the two generals briefly captured the attention of the world. Then, we, the expats, were evacuated. Since then, the cannons have not silenced, but most of the voices have. No, the situation in Sudan hasn’t improved. No, the intensity of the conflict has not diminished. We have simply grown quieter. What is happening ? Executions, rapes, beatings, tortures, and widespread hunger are not only daily threats faced by the Sudanese people but are also used systematically as weapons of war. In Darfur, mass killings continue. 8.6 million people have been displaced. 24.8 million people need humanitarian assistance. 17.7 million are facing acute hunger. What can we do? Stay informed and support efforts in Sudan. Here are some valuable links to follow and assist the amazing work of Sudanese emergency response rooms (ERRs) and other organizations: https://lnkd.in/eiP8bgiu https://lnkd.in/eyEUjgeE https://lnkd.in/eK82gQFv https://lnkd.in/epkiyr2k Your awareness and support can make a difference. #Ukraine | The Master Dataset consolidates key indicators of the Ukraine crisis for the tracking of changes in the #humanitarian situation, among which are the number of events affecting access in each oblast in a given month. *ACAPS tracks ‘access events’ (one-time events, policies, or recurrent practices) that constitute impediments to humanitarian access. See the oblasts with the highest access events in April: https://lnkd.in/eaPEN5PB
