Empowering displaced women can contribute to preventing gender-based violence. In the Women's Participation Project, economic empowerment of women was theorized as way to enhance social and cultural capital of women in the community, and thereby improve their meaningful participation. After seven years of implementation, WPP activities in multiple countries have found that it is, indeed, an effective strategy. ✔ Some of the many income-generating activities haved included skill-building and peer-to-peer vocational training in jewellery-making, basketweaving, food processing, goat-rearing, fish net manufacturing, soap-making, sewing, and tailoring, among many others. 💍🧼🐐🧵 The WPP continues to support the economic empowerment of displaced women in many countries, including #yemen. On International Women's Day, let us stand in solidarity with the courageous women in conflict-affected countries who face unimaginable hardships every day. From Syria to Yemen, Afghanistan to Somalia, women are on the frontlines of conflict, risking their lives to protect their families and communities. We must recognize and honor the resilience and strength of these women, who continue to fight for peace and justice despite facing unimaginable obstacles. We must amplify their voices, support their efforts, and work towards a more inclusive and just world for all. This International Women's Day, let us commit to standing with and supporting women in conflict-affected countries and working towards a world where all women can live in safety, peace, and dignity. Together, we can create a more just and equitable society for all. #InternationalWomensDay #WomenInConflictAffectedCountries #StandWithWomen

🇸🇪Sweden has outlined a new strategy for regional development cooperation with the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) for 2024-2027. As a proud Swedish citizen with deep roots in the Middle East, I find the focus on cooperation between Sweden and the MENA region particularly significant (although I don't always agree with the wording and the approach of such policies). Key aspects of the strategy include: -->Economic Empowerment: Initiatives to boost job creation, innovation, and entrepreneurship, particularly for women and youth. -->Education: Efforts to promote equitable and inclusive education, with a focus on girls and women. -->Climate Action: Measures to enhance resilience to climate change and support a green transition. -->Human Rights: Support for human rights defenders, democratic institutions, and protection of religious freedoms. -->Women's Empowerment: Actions to strengthen gender equality and combat gender-based violence. -->Migration: Improving conditions for voluntary repatriation and combating human trafficking. The strategy represents a significant investment of SEK 2.22 billion (around 213.12 million USD), aimed at addressing challenges such as conflict, poverty, climate change, and human rights abuses in the region. It seeks to create sustainable development and stronger relations between Sweden and MENA countries. #sweden #mena #egypt #yemen #palestine #saudi #tunisia #algeria #morocco #qatar #uae #kuwait #oman #irak #development #sustainability #economicempowerment #climateaction #humanrights #womensempowerment #migration #peaceandsecurity

⭐ Continuing our journey: New set of findings from "Engaging Women in the Humanitarian Response in Afghanistan" Following our initial insights shared a few days ago, we're excited to present more critical findings from our study with Ground Truth Solutions, supported by #UNWomen. ✅ Immediate aid matters, with both men and women valuing essentials like food, non-food items, and cash support in crises. Yet, the call for sustainable, future-focused interventions is rising. Communities seek solutions that empower them to build a better tomorrow. ✅ Urban women face distinct challenges. They feel less able to plan for the future compared to urban men and rural women. Their request for job opportunities is a pressing call for economic empowerment. ✅ While literacy doesn't significantly affect women's long-term outlooks, it has a stronger impact on men in rural areas. Men who can read and write feel better prepared for the future. 🤝 Our commitment is to foster a gender-inclusive humanitarian response. Keep an eye out for additional updates and valuable insights from this significant study! 📚 Full Report: For a comprehensive view, access the full report here: https://shorturl.at/hrvD8 #HumanitarianResponse #GenderEquality #EmpowerWomen #Afghanistan #ResearchFindings #sustainabledevelopment

In the days of qualitative peace, and in 2019 in particular, an initiative related to rural women (the development of rural women) was put forward, which includes drawing a map of the problems that rural women may face in the future and ways to solve them, (among them) ways and methods of protection in times of conflicts and wars. This initiative was presented to a long list of specialized institutions in this regard, but they did not interact as requiredThe sad thing is that this war in #sudan and showed that the category and areas targeted by the initiative are the groups that have been most affected by this war and in the worst way.The question that keeps repeating itself in the mind is: How much benefit could have been achieved if these parties had cooperated?? How many women could have avoided rape, captivity or murder? Is there anyone who bears responsibility for what happened indirectly, and I am one of them?Where is the fault?Unfortunately , the only thing damaged was that poor, helpless rural woman. #womenempowerment #unwomen #unfpa #sudancrisis #sudanconflict

We declare Peace everyday!!! Women's Peace & Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) CARE The World Bank Women Unlimited Eswatini Director, Vimbai Kapurura, is among over 150 women from civil society organisations across the globe who drafted the Berlin Declaration 2023 that calls for the investment into women in the frontline as peace builders, humanitarian responders and human rights defenders. "We do not want women to just have a seat in decision making processes but we want resourced women who are capacitated , strategic and women who know what they want to the extent that they would go to a seat and voice out on issues and bring solutions to problems" said Kapurura. The UN Women's Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) and the German Federal Foreign Office hosted the Conference in May 23 & 25 in Berlin known as the Global Women's Forum for Peace and Humanitarian Action. In 2022 Women Unlimited implemented a peace-building project training over 50 women led organisations on a number of topics but not limited to how women can take the lead in conflict resolution, mediation, and peace-building. Enabling women to voice their opinions and perspectives in male-dominated spaces brings much-needed gender diversity which fosters a broader range of ideas, experiences, and insights , leading to a more creative and effective problem-solving. #inclusivity #equalopportunities #womenempowement #peacebuilding

💪🏼 U-Power addresses the challenges faced by women and girls in the context of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the resulting refugee influx in Moldova. Through a feminist and intersectional approach, the project empowers women and girls in areas such as personal development, leadership, support for small and medium businesses, and local participation. CRISP primarily focuses on the girls' component. Given the low representation of women in management and entrepreneurship, we aim to provide comprehensive support to Ukrainian women 🇺🇦 refugees and Moldovan women 🇲🇩 through an innovative vocational program, reducing gender imbalances in the labor market. Additionally, we aim to strengthen the non-formal political participation of girls at the local level. Whether they are refugees or members of host communities, girls often lack leadership opportunities and platforms to advocate for their needs. Collaboration between Ukrainian refugee girls and girls from Moldovan host communities, along with joint local initiatives, will enable young women to be vital participants in local decision-making processes and promote integration of refugees in Moldovan communities 🙌🏼 ___ Partners: Centru de educație nonformală "Diversitate" Femei pentru Femei / Women 4 Women Donors: UN Women Women's Peace & Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) #WomenEmpowerment #Peacebuilding #RefugeeSupport #InclusiveSociety #LeadershipDevelopment #SocialCohesion #GenderEquality #EmpowerGirls #CommunityIntegration #HumanitarianAid #ResilienceBuilding

Thrilled to exchange fascinating experiences with these women leaders- “Ambassadors of Peace” in their active and direct involvement in consolidating peace and security in different regional states of Ethiopia. This is a clear sign of paradigm change from all-men-dominating conflict resolution trends that have been existed in the country, to all-inclusive and collective actions towards sustainable and long-lasting peace. #womenempowerment #equalopportunities #equalityanddiversity #paradigmshift
