#Misinformation and #disinformation: countering these dangerous trends ( and tactics) is not an easy task ❗️ As highlighted by Ioanna Lachana in the below article, misinfo & disinfo are indeed a global threat and the #WesternBalkans are no exception. Most prominent narratives are the ones trying to undermine and derail #WB’s #EU accession and integration paths. ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/ds_Cm6RM ❗️❗️ Climate and energy related topics are not immune to false narratives ➡️ This is why working with #CSO & #Media in the #WesternBalkans to foster their capacities, #transparency and #pluralism is more than ever of outmost importance. ❗️❗️

🔴📰 My latest Policy Analysis as a Balkans in Europe Policy Advisory Group Fellow is out now. 🇭🇺 🇷🇸 🇽🇰 In "A triangle of (mis)trust: Hungary's enlargement stakes in Serbia and Kosovo" I dive deep into the uneven balance of interests that Budapest strikes between Belgrade and Prishtina. I argue that Hungary refuses to sacrifice its well-nurtured ties with Belgrade even if this has negative implications on Kosovo’s national interests and threatens its diplomatic ties with Prishtina. Through three dimensions of analysis—the economic, the security, and the ideological— and three empirical cases—the Belgrade-Prishtina dialogue, Kosovo’s applications to the Council of Europe and to the EU, and the EU enlargement policy as a whole—I argue that the Budapest-Belgrade axis is set to thrive in a global arena of increasing authoritarianism, while Kosovo is set to struggle without more and better support from other EU Member States. Massive thanks go to Balkans in Europe Policy Advisory Group and European Fund for the Balkans (EFB) for their trust and support. The full read is available here: https://lnkd.in/dkh4uQuZ
