Plate cleaners or scratch removers have been completely rinsed from the plate. 2. Washes have contaminated the dampening system. 3. The plate was improperly prepared. 4. Plate wear caused by faulty or improperly set ink or dampening rollers. 5. Blanket is over-packed or loose. The ink is not properly (thoroughly) cured. It is only cured at the surface, and it is breaking off at the dry/wet ink interface and builds up on the following units. Blocking - Sheets in the load stick together. Probably Causes - 1. The ink is setting too slow. 2. Excessive amount of water being run. 3. Insufficient spray powder used or not distributed evenly. 4. Improper particle size of spray powder being used. 5. Loads too high for stock weight. 6. Static electricity 7. Is pile temperature over 100° F. 8. Are spray units clogged. The ghost image is always carried on the same side of the sheet. Mechanical ghosting results from inadequacies of the ink system. A light or dark print of another part of the form appears in a large solid or dense halftones 1. There is too much water; the ink may be over-emulsified. 2. Ink rollers are the wrong diameter 3.
