Last week we shared some exciting news about Auckland getting a new Surf Park and we want to share why this is so significant to New Zealand. Auckland Surf Park, championed by Adrian "Ace" Buchan and Sir John Kirwan will be Aotearoa’s first, set among the North Island’s pristine landscape. Aventuur’s vision is to deliver a truly unique surf park that is reflective of Aotearoa culture and the local rural aesthetic, is developed and operated sustainably, and contributes to individual health and collective wellbeing. With a significant focus on sustainability, the master planned community includes a co-located Spark New Zealand data centre and 7-hectare solar farm. Notably, excess heat from Spark's data centre (planned to be powered by renewable energy, including on-site generation from the solar farm) will be harnessed to warm the surfing lagoon year-round – a world-first. Dylan Lawrence, General Manager of Invest New Zealand says: “Projects such as this one has a hugely positive impact on Aotearoa, generating over 400 jobs during construction and 120 full-time equivalent positions once operational, the Auckland Surf Park is poised to inject over $600 million into the local economy over its lifespan. Through attracting offshore investments to Aotearoa, we are not only fostering economic growth but also enhancing our global presence in the tourism sector. This initiative stands as a testament to New Zealand's commitment to sustainable economic development and our unwavering dedication to fostering prosperity in our communities.” Congratulations Aventuur on such an exciting project.
