🌟 Exciting developments in sustainable transport! Gothenburg is once again taking a leading role in the green transition with a project aiming to support the transition of the boating industry through electrification. This innovative initiative, a collaboration between Sweden and Norway, will establish over 400 charging points for electric boats along the coast from Gothenburg to Kristiansand in Norway. 🔌 🚤 The go:LEIF project highlights the region's commitment to sustainable transport and green innovation. By focusing on smart technology and sustainable business models, Gothenburg and its partners are setting the standard for the future of recreational boating. This project not only supports the reduction of CO2 emissions but also promotes the use of renewable energy sources. The project is already making significant strides, having recently launched a super fast charger in Lysekil on the Swedish west coast and established both public and homeport charging stations in two Gothenburg marinas. The green transition demands collaboration, and in Gothenburg, we are masters of collaboration. Join us in this collective effort to achieve the sustainable boating of future! 🌍⚡🚤 📖 Read more about the project: https://lnkd.in/dMe6vJDp Co-financiers: Interreg Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak and Västra Götalandsregionen. Project partners: Agder fylkeskommune, Arendal kommune, Business Region Göteborg, Lydløs, Fyrbodals kommunalförbund, Göteborgsregionens Fritidshamnar AB (GREFAB), Göteborgsregionen, Innovatum Science Park, LEVA i Lysekil AB, Lysekils kommun, RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, and Universitetet i Sørøst-Norge. #Gothenburg #SustainableTransport #GreenInnovation #ElectricBoats #goLEIF

Lakeside Science & Technology Park employees pedaled all the way to Kenya! 🚲☀️ During the summer of 2023, Lakeside Park's staff cycled almost 9,000 kilometers, saving a total of 1,588 tons of CO2 emissions. 🌍🌿 Recently, at the IASP - International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation World Conference in Luxembourg, Lakeside Park showcased its successful sustainability efforts, including the Natura 2000 protected area of Lendspitz Maiernigg https://lnkd.in/dDt7ZJ7C . Among our initiatives, the "Lakeside Mobility Coach" program participated in the "Kärnten radelt" campaign, involving 10 companies from May to September. Recently, at a networking event, the most dedicated cyclists were awarded job Tickets and Next Bike vouchers, with DEIF Wind Power Technology Austria Otilia P. panzar leading the way with 4,216.70 km pedaled. 🏆 In total, Lakeside Park covered 8,950.00 km – that's the distance from Klagenfurt to Nairobi, where the next year's IASP World Conference of Science Parks will take place. 🌏🌟 This journey has already saved approximately 1,588 tons of CO2 emissions. For next year's kilometer collection and much more, Lakeside Park has partnered with ummadum, an innovative application to help integrate sustainable mobility into everyday life. 📱🌱 #Sustainability #CyclingGoals #EcoFriendly"

Congratulations to the city of Elsinore for being one of just two European Green Leaf cities in 2024!🌿 Green Leaf is a European Commission award that recognises cities with less than 100,000 inhabitants for their commitment to sustainability and the green transition. With urban areas being the source of many of today’s environmental challenges, it’s instrumental that cities across Europe do their part to further the green transition. This brings us to Elsinore. What has Hamlet’s hometown done to earn this recognition? ✅ It is accelerating the energy renovation of buildings and expanding fossil-free district heating. ✅It has decided to reconstruct the sewage system to separate rainwater and wastewater to improve water quality and efficiency. ✅It works with biodiversity and sustainable land use. ✅It focuses on recycling and the principles of circular economy. ✅The city has achieved a high level of engagement of citizens and local businesses. The same commitment is true to Elsinore's meetings industry, which includes a wide range of certified venues and hotels as well as restaurants with a green focus. And equally important, the beautiful coastal city is only a 40-minute train ride from Copenhagen.🚆 Helsingør Kommune #sustainability #meetingsprof #eventprofs #greenleaf

Helsinki and Tallinn ports enter a Green Corridor agreement The goal is to develop an improved and stream-lined port infrastructure and green line operation. The connection between Helsinki and Tallinn with over 2 mio vehicles and 9 mio passenger that cross the water every year is critical for the region. Alongside the Helsinki-Tallinn route, the corridor will also cover the Muuga-Vuosaari connection. A joint roadmap will be shortly announced for shipping companies, cities and ports consisting of specific milestones on the road to: - Fostering this connection aka increasing capacity - Bringing in environmental innovation - perhaps restoration efforts? - Reducing carbon footprint - green fuels and/ or other ? This green corridor shipping route, an umbrella for several projects at sea and in shore operations, aspires to be a lighthouse concept. However, having Nature as a fixed part in the consideration and planning of infrastructure and transport is essential to restore the health of our oceans. Let us see what the roadmap looks like. The power plant building, which burns waste instead of fossil fuel, aligns with Copenhagen’s goal of being the first carbon-neutral capital by 2025. Bjarke Ingels Group’s founder Bjarke Ingels said in an opening-day statement, “CopenHill is a blatant architectural expression of something that would otherwise have remained invisible: that it is the cleanest waste-to-energy power plant in the world.” Fascinating? CopenHill burns waste and turns the exhaust into heat and electricity for tens of thousands of households in Copenhagen. Its artificial ski area is 400 meters long, including four slopes of varying difficulty, a freestyle park and slalom course. It doesn’t rely on natural snow or human-made snow production and helps promote sustainable tourism in Denmark year-round. via @ neverenougharchitecture #innovation #sustainability
