When we think about sourcing ingredients and chemicals sustainably, what does that actually mean? Well, to put it simply, it means getting what you need, in a way that’s kind(er) to our planet. But we need to have a deeper understanding of the entire lifecycle of the products too: 1) Feedstocks used 2) Production methods and the waste/by-products generated 3) Transportation into, and out of our warehouses 4) Packaging used throughout 5) Actual usage of the product 6) Waste management Don’t get me wrong though, it’s a real balancing act, and extremely difficult to be 100% in all areas. Waste Co-treatment: Implement fluidized bed boiler technology to treat solid waste at qualified paper mills. 2. Paper Classification Standards: Develop domestic standards for paper classification (e.g., OCC, ONP) to facilitate trade and recycling. 3. Consider Scrap Paper as Raw Material: Treat scrap paper as a secondary raw material, reduce the deposit rate, and eliminate excessive import controls. 4. Investment in Pulp Factories: Encourage investment in advanced technology pulp factories to ensure quality and environmental protection.
