First ISCC Low LUC Risk Certificate goes to FS Fueling Sustainability! 👏 Based in Brazil, FS Fueling Sustainability produces bioethanol made from second-crop corn. The corn is grown on existing land after the primary soy crop has been harvested – an approach that comes with a two-fold benefit: it avoids displacement of the existing cultivation and prevents the use of additional land for agricultural production. FS’ low-carbon bioethanol is suitable for the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and can therefore help narrow the gap between SAF supply and demand. This is a remarkable milestone, and we are delighted that FS Fueling Sustainability is the first one worldwide to receive our Low Land Use Change Risk (Low LUC) Certification. The certification is recognized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Their certification sets a great example for being at the forefront of innovative agricultural practices and supporting the sector in increasing SAF volumes. 📣 During #ClimateWeek, we are thrilled to share a significant achievement the U.S. Grains Council’s Corn Sustainability Assurance Protocol (CSAP) Version 1.1 has reached Gold Level Equivalence against SAI Platform’s Farm Sustainability Assessment (FSA) 3.0, the highest possible equivalence level. 📊 SAI Platform’s Farm Sustainability Assessment is a globally recognised framework promoting on-farm sustainability improvements. Over 100 programs worldwide have been benchmarked against it, fostering industry alignment on sustainability. 🌿 This accomplishment will benefit Council agricultural business members and clients using CSAP and the Sustainable Corn Exports web platform. Andrew Brandt, USGC Director of Trade Policy, emphasised that this "means international buyers now have a more robust tool to address sustainable sourcing requirements." Joe Iveson, FSA Manager, said, "This firmly underlines their level of ambition in the pursuit of a more sustainable and responsible future for farming." Congratulations to the U.S. Grains Council for their dedication to advancing sustainability in agriculture, bringing us closer to a sustainable future for farming worldwide. ➡️ Read more https://lnkd.in/gHwYPR2Z #FSA #FarmSustainability #SustainableAgriculture #PeoplePoweredAgriculture

Jacob Overt knew he had the resources needed to gain financial freedom on his 1.5-hectare oil palm farm, but he lacked the knowledge & skills to fully maximize the potential. In 2021, Jacob joined an oil palm farmer group under the #NISCOPS programme and received training in climate-smart oil palm production, best management practices & sustainable land use. When properly managed, oil palm can be sustainable and profitable for small-scale farmers, like Jacob. When chemical fertilizers are used in the field, less than 50% of the nitrogen and phosphorus end up in the plants. The rest evaporates or end up in streams, rivers, lakes and in the ground water. The eutrophication process causes a more rapid algae growth than the ecosystems can handle. In 2020 the EU introduced its new agricultural strategy “From Farm to Fork – for a fair, healthy and environmentally-friendly food system” as part of the European Green Deal. Here it is clearly stated that the EU’s ambition is to reduce the use of chemicals in agriculture with 50% by 2030. Envirom's products have been formulated to aid in the natural processes of soil recovery and remediation under the "carbon cycle" of all plant life. Use of our products will aid in the rebalance of the microbial system in the soil, resulting in more favourable conditions for optimized soil health - and plant vigour!

Quality Management System and SDG 2030 How is QMS ISO 9001 related to SDG2030? How does ISO 9001 contribute to SDG2030? Well, if you lookup at ISO 9001 at the ISO website, and scroll down , you will find this below (look at picture). (You may find similar correlation for other ISO standards also. ) What are the figures 1, 9, 12, 14? 1 stands for SDG Goal 1: No Poverty- End poverty in all its forms everywhere By providing a platform for best practice in all areas of economic activity, from agriculture to banking, ISO International Standards contribute to the sustainable production of food and resources as well as sustainable employment. 9 stands for SDG Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure- Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation. ISO International Standards support sustainable industrialization through internationally agreed specifications that meet quality, safety and sustainability requirements. 12 stands for SDG Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production -Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns. Reducing our environmental impact, promoting the use of renewable sources of energy and encouraging responsible purchasing decisions are just some of the ways that ISO standards contribute to sustainable consumption and production. 14 stands for SDG Goal 14: Life Below Water -Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development. Traceability of fish and environmental management of marine resources are the focus of ISO/TC 234, ISO’s technical committee for fisheries and aquaculture, which provides a unique opportunity to participate in the development of fisheries and aquaculture in a way that respects sustainable development. SAF Investor Conference: Day 2 Is Alcohol-to-jet the heir to HEFA? Alcohol-to-SAF faces criticism from environmentalists. In the US, the CORSIA vs GREET debate on whether ethanol-to-SAF should qualify for subsidies or not and EU excluding ethanol-driven SAF from its ReFuelEU Aviation Rules are some of the key debates surrounding the use of ethanol for SAF. But SAF from corn feedstocks (one of the key feedstocks at the heart of SAF production in the US) is not unsustainable, argue panellists at the SAF Investor Conference. There are sustainable farming techniques that make the production of SAF from corn sustainable. We cannot do everything perfectly. We need to work with what we have. And ethanol-to-SAF is one of the major pathways to meeting the demand that is coming soon, argue panellists. Patrick Gruber, CEO, Gevo, Inc. ✨ So happy to see my second paper published in the journal Heliyon! "𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐩𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐝, 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐥𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐬𝐲𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐝𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐲 𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐬" https://lnkd.in/eaafjRxq 📋 In the #LCA paper, we assess the #reduction potential, #environmental performance and #tradeoffs of three innovative measures to reduce #emissions in two #dairy systems 🐄, i.e. 🌿 feeding #Asparagopsis to cows to reduce methane 🚽 including a #cowtoilet system to reduce ammonia 🧪 using slurry #acidification on field level to reduce emissions. 📉 Our results showed that the measures can reduce #environmental impacts to varying degrees, however, all scenarios involved trade-offs between: (1) Between impact categories, GWP or EP, increasing AD. (2) Within a single #impact category, on- to off-farm impacts, affecting the location of emissions. (3) Between different single gases (#pollution swapping). 🎯 Measures that reduce more than one gas without driving pollution swapping while not requiring additional constant inputs should be prioritized. CEA often sites water savings when pitching itself. Yes, we need to grow more food with less water but in many cases, water is one of the lower costs to farms, even in the regions with the most water scarcity. In this panel at World-Agritech I asked, from a business perspective, what is the case for water-saving technologies? https://lnkd.in/gt6bq2DJ
