The European Political Community #EPC Summit at Blenheim Palace is the perfect opportunity to launch Phase 2 of our UK-Europe defence and security relationships map with Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) UK & Ireland. It contains: -A total of 129 bilateral agreements with 44 countries; -Details the 18 European security organisations, frameworks and initiatives that the UK is a member of; -Locates UK bases and forces across Europe, including major UK led exercises. It shows: -The UK has significantly increased the bilateralisation of its defence and security relationships across Europe since 2016 due to Brexit. Defence and security was not included in the 2020 UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA), which governs the post-Brexit UK-EU relationship. Therefore, the UK can only gain bilateral agreements on policy areas outside of it; -The UK now has eleven active defence and security agreements with Ukraine – more than any other European country; -The UK’s other defence and security focus is Northern Europe and the 10 members of the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF).
🗺 As the new UK Government welcomes 45 European leaders for the European Political Community (EPC) Blenheim Summit, we are excited to share our updated online interactive map of UK defence and security relationships with allies and partners across Europe. The map, which is created in partnership with Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, is a user-friendly interactive research tool which consolidates information on the UK’s defence and security multilateral, minilateral and bilateral relationships in a single place. 👉You can access the map here: https://bit.ly/3mcAewB

This is meant to be an Operational Level of War and Operational Art primer. Nothing more. It follows a primer on the role of the National Security Strategy, and the nested Strategic Documents. In an era where great power conflict between the United States and China is more probable than possible, and such a conflict will be won or lost at the Operational Level of War and in the Maritime Domain, the various areas that contribute to our Strategic Incompetence and Operational Mediocrity are worthy of study. Here's the latest publication by Monika Palotai, Hudson Visiting Research Fellow, and Kristof Gyorgy Veres, Andrássy Fellow in RealClearDefense. "To combat Russian disinformation, policymakers in Washington DC must approach this critical threat as a nonpartisan national security issue and take proactive measures to identify and counter the Kremlin's operations. Once manipulated stories enter the mainstream public discourse, it becomes increasingly difficult to distinguish falsehoods from facts."
