Microgrids for Cities - I am interested in exploring how cities can use microgrids to help lower energy costs, incorporate more renewables and have power in an emergency. That is why I am excited to attend this Local Infrastructure Hub webinar on Wed. 6/25 at 2pm ET - Using Microgrids for Decarbonization and Resilience. There are lots of funding opportunities in the Inflation Reduction Act and the IIJA that make these projects more feasible right now. Kicking off the Downstream 2024 kōrero in Wellington. My key question, which I hope the conference will help to answer - how can we accelerate the adoption of renewables through the increased access and participation of distributed microgrids for consumers? Our industry is facing a range of challenges, many of which are dynamic and evolving. Let’s cut through the “noise” and hep kiwis to access clean, resilient power, in any location #endpowerpoverty #efficientenergyeverywhere #bess #solar #powerblok #resilientinfrastructure

Local #cleanenergy, like rooftop and community #solar, generates more than just #sustainable electricity—it’s also a major job creator! Decarbonizing the #grid with a mix of local clean energy and utility-scale can produce over a million more jobs by 2050 than with utility-scale alone. But that growth won’t happen without effective #stateinterconnectionrules. Learn more at https://lnkd.in/gk8XBPPd!

Do you want to see what a #growth industry looks like? Look no further than the grid storage industry, which through September installed as much new #batterystorage capacity in 9 months as it did in all of 2022. With quarter over quarter growth of 27%, the industry set both new quarterly AND annual installation records. And with three more months of activity to fold in, 2023 ushers in a step-change in grid storage market size. This growth is encouraging but challenges remain. Snarled supply chains, lengthy and uncertain permitting regimes, and bloated and time-intensive interconnection queues, among other issues, threaten to throttle growth in this industry. And the timing is unfortunate as grids are witnessing a return to demand growth and resource adequacy concerns rise in the face of extreme weather and supply/demand mismatches. Discover more about what trends are shaping the energy storage market in the latest Energy Storage Monitor from the American Clean Power Association (ACP) and Wood Mackenzie Power & Renewables https://lnkd.in/g-5ygu6v
