#Africa is constantly spiralling in same dark space created by “powers” not wanting it to grow. Last 20 ys has taught us that it not only involves external actors we’ve blamed since independence, but mostly internal powers who wants the status quo to reside. Can we change that paradigm? How can we contribute in building a greener, more sustainable continent with decent work, zero hunger, good heath, quality education less poverty with electricity, clean water and connectivity where we find peace, justice, strong institutions assuring equality and equity for all including nature when our goal partners (the powers) who are supposed to help us to reach these utopian resolutions are working against them, working against us? #development #sustanibility #leadership #change #socialdialogue #NkeloBantu #HumanCapital #sdgs #socialengagement

Africa needs to take back its power (resources) through continued education and improved continental collaboration. Outside investment opportunities should be welcomed as a means for local Africans to learn to produce and harness the continents agricultural opportunities. Fair union and labor practices must be implemented as well. These types of advancements don’t just benefit Africa either. There is an increase worldwide, in the awareness of consumers and their concerns over various companies production practices. Sustainability is achievable, but only through a new, improved win-win mindset. One geared toward compassion and longevity. #ubuntu

Despite achieving a new record in the #humandevelopmentindex, the 2023/2024 UNDP Human Development Report: “Breaking the Gridlock: Reimagining Cooperation in a Polarized World” reveals concerning realities: 1. The HDI value has increased since 2019, but we have not yet reached the development level predicted before the pandemic. 2. The #covid19pandemic has disrupted global progress towards achieving the #sustainabledevelopmentgoals (SDGs) by 2030, with every region falling behind its pre-2019 projections. 3. The pandemic has claimed millions of lives and impacted the #health and #education of many others, resulting in lost human development that may never be fully recovered. 4. Poor countries are struggling to recover from the pandemic, while wealthy countries have already exceeded their 2019 HDI levels. 5. #inequality is on the rise as the poorest countries are being left behind in the partial, incomplete, and unequal recovery. Two decades of progress in closing the gap with wealthier countries have reversed. 6. The world is falling behind on the #SDGs, and regressing on key goals such as climate action, nature protection, food security, #poverty, #inequality, and #genderinequality. 7. In 2022, armed conflicts and forced displacement reached an all-time high since World War II. 8. People worldwide are sadder and more stressed than a decade ago, according to the Human Development Report. Breaking the gridlock calls for a #reimagining and #reinvigoration of #multilateral #cooperation to achieve high levels of human development worldwide. UNDP

Integrating #sustainablebusinesspractices with #bottomline objectives is no longer a nice thing to do but a fundamental part of protecting our planet and future! Today several African countries are signatories to #TheParisAgreement , a commitment which will set the continent on a low-emission, #greengrowth and #climateresilient #development pathway that will not only help #Africa to meet its international #climatecommitments but also establish implementable policies and financing priorities for #lowemission #economicgrowth and support buy-in and ownership across numerous stakeholders around a shared vision. I am truly honoured to have been 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐙𝐞𝐫𝐨 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑 𝐅𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩! A program of HACEY Health Initiative and sponsored by Access Bank Plc. UNDP’s new #HDR2024 finds that uneven development progress is leaving the poorest behind, exacerbating inequality, and stoking political polarization globally. The result is a dangerous gridlock that must be urgently tackled through collective action. https://go.undp.org/pjWe
