Thank you for encouraging colleagues to be curious, Leeds Building Society. I had a fantastic day yesterday learning about what our internal audit team do as I was lucky enough to be part of one of their shadow days. Am I allowed to share their secrets? Absolutely! ✅their visits are not unannounced - there’s a plan and they share it in advance! ✅they aren’t there to catch people out - they offer support and recommendations to improve process and procedure. ✅they’d much rather it was them who find an issue than an external auditor! View their engagement with your department as an opportunity to solve issues together and always be open and honest. ✅their reports are a holistic view so let them come and see what’s working well so they can share your successes with stakeholders! If you have an opportunity to learn about what another department does, I say grab it with both hands! And by the way…internal auditors are fun! Who knew?! 😉 Elizabeth O'Dunnell Jaclyn Bell (CeMAP) Rebecca Lofts #alwayslearning #becurious #askquestions #development #greatplacetowork #thankyou

Today kicks off our internal audit series, as we share a few key content changes from the previous to the latest Global IA Standards. 📝 DEFINE: Define Essential Conditions “Essential conditions” is a new concept in the latest Standards, introduced in Domain III: Governing the IA Function. Standards 6.1-8.4 in Domain III define and outline the roles, or “essential conditions”, the Board and Senior Management must uphold for the Internal Audit function to fulfill its purpose effectively. By defining roles more clearly, high-level leadership with finite time—the Chief Audit Executive, Board, and Senior Management—can better align for success.
