In our industry’s ledger, there’s no understating the contributions of women. Each year, we’re thrilled to see the strides women in accounting have made to close the gender gap and open the doors of opportunity for generations to come. This International Women’s Day, consider donating to a cause that supports women in our industry, like 100 Women in Finance: https://100women.org/

Worth a repost? Why do the voices of poor women have to be filtered through charity CEO's to gain funding? Currently talking to the Big Funders calling for systemic change in funding practices to wrestle the money from the middle classes. Part 2 of a series where Alice Smith reveals the rot in the charity sector that promises so much to women survivors and creates so little real change in our circumstances https://lnkd.in/e5Zxj_iP Best bit (if you can't be bothered to read it all) - How much power do poor women really have in the Lady Bountiful dominated arena of third sector 'social change'? Charities like MindSheila McKechnie Foundation and Women's Aid may ask us out to play in projects that promise to share power but it's simply their game of pass the parcel. They stop and start the music. They own the music. They may give us funded (as in their salary) workshops we can't attend because of childcare or zero hours contracts but just like the pigs in Animal Farm, these female pigs are laying back full of milk and apples on fat 'facilitation' fees from funders. The only thing you need to bring for entry is your gratitude. If we share our story, they may make 'that face' and mine us for ideas/dinner party conversation starters. Is it really enough to take our near death experiences as currency then give us Lovetoshop vouchers for low end stores like Asda that they would rather die then step into? These are mere crumbs falling off the Mad Hatter's tea party table. Let them eat cake? No - let them eat our crumbs. #pigs #charity #funding #writer #survivor #domesticabuse #domesticabusesurvivor #recovery #cake (obviously)

Let’s celebrate #WomenAlight together. 🌟 The stories of displaced women aren’t just about survival; they are tales of abundance, of overcoming, of thriving against all odds. Their resilience is not just inspiring; it's a call to action. They remind us that every challenge faced is an opportunity to rise stronger.
