♻️ More standards for more circular products? The Council of the European Union has adopted the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (#ESPR), set to enter into force soon. This regulation establishes a framework for ecodesign requirements for products sold in the EU, focusing on: - Durability - Reusability - Repairability - Recyclability - Upgradability - Environmental impact A key element of the ESPR is the introduction of a Digital Product Passport (DPP). It would carry a product’s information requirements, providing information on performance, traceability, technical documentation, harmful chemicals, user manuals and facilitating the repair and recycling of products. On June 28, 2024, Regulation (EU) 2024/1781 establishing a framework for the setting of ecodesign requirements for sustainable products has been published on Official Journal of the European Union. The new Ecodesign for Sustainable Product Regulation (ESPR) repeals the current Ecodesign Directive 2009/125/EC, which currently only covers energy-related products, to broaden its scope to all products placed on the EU market, whether produced inside or outside the EU. ESPR sets a new sustainability and ecodesign approach enabling the adoption of product-specific measure which will set, according to product category, new requirements including performance requirements, durability, carbon footprint, recycled content, and many more, with a strong focus on product information such as Digital Product Passport, labels, and information requirements. The new Regulation will enter into force on July 18, 2024, and will directly be applicable in all member States. Read additional details here: https://s.ul.com/4bFWBOx #weareULSolutions

Latest from the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (#ESPR). 📰🔋 The Council of the European Union has given its final approval to the ESPR, marking a major milestone in our journey towards #sustainability. It requires almost all products sold in Europe to have a #DigitalProductPassport (DPP). This passport will help make the supply chains for raw materials more transparent. 🏛️🌟 Compliance 1️⃣ X Waste O! ⚖ ✨ As a passionate advocate of #Retail and #WasteReduction, I am thrilled to share this news from the EU, hoping it becomes a worldwide rule ASAP! The proposed new regulation, Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (#ESPR), is a crucial step towards #EnvironmentalSustainability and #ProductCircularity. 🆘 Let's consider these questions before taking the next step in our purchases: 🛍️ Do I really need that garment? 🌱 How many natural resources were consumed to produce it? 🌍 Was the entire production and distribution chain of that garment done with the care that the planet, people, and society deserve (#ESG)? 💡 Why wait for a law to do the bare minimum correct action? Key points: 🌟 #MoreSustainable & #CircularProducts: It aims to improve the circularity, #EnergyPerformance, and other aspects of environmental sustainability of products in the EU. This not only benefits consumers and the environment but also has a significant economic impact! #EconomicAndEcologic 💰 🌳 📜 Solid legal framework: ESPR establishes a framework to set ecodesign requirements for specific product groups, improving their circularity, energy performance, and other aspects of environmental sustainability. 🔧 More durable and repairable products: ESPR will allow setting requirements for durability, reusability, upgradeability, and reparability of products, as well as the presence of substances that inhibit circularity. 🔖 #NewDigitalPassport: The introduction of the product digital passport will provide #Information on the environmental sustainability of products, facilitating informed purchasing decisions, repairs, #auditing, and #recycling. 🌎 International perspective: ESPR will apply to all products in the EU market, complying with international trade rules and working in partnership with producing countries to improve the sustainability of their products. ✅ ESPR demonstrates how #Compliance can effectively #CombatWaste and promote more #ResponsiblePractices. ✅ We all play a crucial role! As individuals, experts, and business leaders, let's embrace these practices not just for legal compliance, but as our duty to the planet and future generations. #TogetherWeCanDoIt! 💪 #Compliance #Waste #Shrinkage #Sustainability #ESG #HumanRights #CircularEconomy 🌍♻️ 👉 full material
