My colleagues Yang Su and Ashish Kumar Jha and I attempted to identify the relationship between academic research in finance and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We used a combination of fuzzy matching and traditional scientometric modelling to develop a model that matches finance papers to SDGs. We then analyzed the distribution of these papers across various journals, ABS rankings, and periods. We find some surprising, and worrying gaps in coverage as well as strong evidence of certain journals taking charge of this area.
