Here we go again! The first work week of 2024 was wild. Numerous new buyers called to prep to purchase this year, and I wrote 3 offers last weekend - 2 of which were bidding wars. I dusted off my box of tricks, and I was able to win 1 of the bidding wars. We could have won the second home, but it ended up going nearly $75k over asking - out of my client’s reach. Insert generic crystal ball joke here, but 2024 is mirroring the last number of years and is starting off with a strong January. Will the following months be strong as well? Time will tell. It is, however, an election year that always throws a wrench into everything. That said, interest rates are cooling off, and one of my lenders even quoted ~6.1% on a conventional loan over the weekend - a far cry from when they were quoting ~8% just a few months ago.
