We’re working with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada/Commissariat à la protection de la vie privée du Canada to investigate a data breach at 23andMe that happened in October 2023. 23andMe hold highly sensitive personal information, including genetic information which does not change over time. It can reveal information about an individual and their family members, including about their health, ethnicity, and biological relationships. This makes public trust in these services essential. Find out more about what the joint investigation will look into on our website: https://lnkd.in/eXp3skqD

To his left white text on a blue background a quote reads: “People need to trust that any organisation handling their most sensitive personal information has the appropriate security and safeguards in place. This data breach had an international impact, and we look forward to collaborating with our Canadian counterparts to ensure the personal information of people in the UK is protected.”

But here you are in the UK allowing high street banks to mine people's biometric data in order to access their bank accounts to undertake even simple transactions. Couldn't make it up.....
