The hydraulics of the plant are such that the flume is elevated above the incoming pipe so that flow rises up in a column before it enters the flume. This rise helps to dampen any excess energy, remove turbulence, and conditions the flow before it enters the flume. Here are some important considerations: 1. **Ensure Compatible Sizing**: First, you must ensure that the water bore installed isn’t too big for your existing system. For example, a large five horsepower pump combined with a main system running off 20 mm PVC could potentially blow it apart due to significant back pressure if the pump can’t adequately release the water. Often, we can connect several valves together to release more water, but it’s crucial to consult with a reticulation specialist before switching over. While some companies may excel at drilling bores, a specialist like myself can guide you on the appropriate pump size. 2. **Be Mindful of Water Quality**: Sometimes, a water bore in a high iron area may clog up sprinklers even if it’s installed correctly. It’s something to be aware of as you might face more maintenance issues depending on the area. 3. **Upgrade the Main Supply Line**: Consider installing a larger main supply line and run it to where the solenoids are, connecting two solenoids together in the ground. This helps in more evenly dispersing the greater water volume. 4. **Install a Pressure Relief Valve**: Always install a pressure relief valve, especially if you have an older existing system and are adding a new bore. The last thing you want is for a solenoid to fail, unable to release pressure, which could burn out your brand new bore pump. Happy days!
