Lead Buyer in a Procurement Network Last week I wrote about a Corporate Procurement Network with Lead Buyer. Thank you very much for your comments. I learned that I have interested followers which would be happy about the posts in English :-) The core message last week was that an organization with Lead Buyers for example make sense when every site is a competence center with "own" products: with an own Development and so with local cross-functional project teams in which also Procurement is one part at eye-height. Hopefully. In a Procurement Network a Lead Buyer is responsible for a material category, for example for all electromechanical components which the company need at all sites. So it is possible to bundle demands from all sites and to have a common strategy for the supplier base. Lead Buyer is mostly the buyer in the local plant, which has the highest purchase volume for this category. The Lead Buyer is connected with all local buyers. So it is possible to bundle local demands AND to have a corporate strategy for the material category. Additional we realize material category expertise and local Procurement team members for the Product Emergence Process at every site. Also cost-down or cost-engineering projects with the local Development and local Procurement are possible, using the Corporate supplier base and contracts. Do you agree? Your comments?
