Full Stack Developer | Freelance | Azure, Google, AWS Cloud Platforms | Open Source, Web Dev, Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, Swift Development |
👨💻 Greetings connections!! Sharing my last year's experience with JPMorgan Chase & Co. Software Engineering Virtual Job Simulation Program on Forage. As I navigate through my journey to become a Software Developer, I recently had the incredible opportunity to dive into the intricacies of software engineering at J.P. Morgan. During this virtual experience, I immersed myself in the development perspective, implementing a visual representation of pair trading. It was a thrilling experience to work in #opensource, providing a clear picture of what actually happens in JPMorgan Chase & Co. 🚀 Here's a short glimpse into all the tasks: 1. Interface with a stock price data feed and set up your system for analysis of the data. 2. Implementing the Perspective open source code in preparation for data visualization 3. Using your Perspective to create a chart for a trading dashboard 4. Contributing to Perspective and other project backlogs in Open Source. 📒 Summary: Set up a local dev environment. Fixed broken files in the repository in Git Hub. Utilized JPMorgan Chase’s open-source library, Perspective, to craft a live graph. 🔗 Here's the link for those who are interested in the course: https://lnkd.in/d86kEbiy This experience was not just about coding, it was a testament to my dedication to learning and adapting to new challenges. I'm thrilled to be a part of a community that values innovation and fosters growth. Looking forward to applying these skills as I continue to merge the realms of Software Development and Technology! #opensource #softwareengineering #jpmorganchase #github #techcommunity #forage #virtualexperience

🚀 Just completed the Software Engineering Virtual Experience with JPMorgan Chase & Co.. on Forage! Throughout this immersive journey, I had the incredible opportunity to: - Set Up a Local Dev Environment: I delved into the world of software engineering by setting up my local development environment. This involved downloading essential files, tools, and dependencies, giving me a taste of what it's like to work on real-world projects. - Fixed Broken Files: As part of the program, I rolled up my sleeves and tackled broken files within the repository. This hands-on experience was instrumental in enhancing my problem-solving skills and understanding the importance of code maintenance. - Leveraged J.P. Morgan's open source library, Perspective: The highlight of this program was using J.P. Morgan's open-source library, Perspective. With it, I created a dynamic live graph that beautifully displayed real-time data feeds. It was a fantastic opportunity to simulate what it's like to work on tools that traders rely on daily. 🌐 Real-world experience and a passion for building trading tools have ignited my excitement for a software engineering career at J.P. Great opportunity for a Senior Staff Engineer at a NYC start-up! Grit is on a mission to crush technical debt. We believe that a big challenge in the next decade will be crumbling digital infrastructure. Our entire modern economy runs on code, but we haven’t developed appropriate tools to ensure software remains reliable over time. Companies know that technical debt threatens the reliability of their services and slows down the pace of innovation, but struggle to find enough engineering talent to fix issues—most software maintenance today is still done manually and delayed as long as possible. We believe there is a better way: we’re building Grit, a query language for automatically maintaining software. Underneath, we use advanced parsing, static analysis, and machine learning to automatically generate pull requests. Founders Fund and Abstract Ventures led our $7M seed round and we have many paying customers on our beta product. Our team is currently 5 engineers. https://lnkd.in/gkeJqSXN

Tech & Product Leader, Strategic Leadership Coach, Author, Speaker, Mentor | My books, systems, and frameworks for tech & product leaders: linktr.ee/techcareer
A few years ago, I looked after a platform team of 80+ software engineers. I had previously looked after a platform team but at a much smaller scale. One of the genuinely curious questions that I got from others was why did we need 80+ software engineers for a platform team. How much code do these platform engineers need to write? Surely... Think platform engineers just code all day? Think again! 🧐 Their roles and responsibilities go far beyond that. Today, I'll uncover the depth and breadth of a platform engineer's world aka the roles and responsibilities of a Platform Engineer: 1. Architectural Planning: Platform engineers design and establish the platform's overall architecture, ensuring it meets both current and future needs. 2. Developing and Maintaining Systems: They are responsible for building and maintaining systems that support the platform's operation, such as data storage and management, API management, and authentication systems. 3. Ensuring Platform Scalability and Performance: They work to ensure the platform can handle increased traffic and demand without compromising performance. 4. Problem-Solving: When issues arise, platform engineers troubleshoot and resolve them to maintain platform reliability. For a platform in its infancy stage, the amount of work under this category is not small and there can be quite a lot of firefighting which could take away the necessary resourcing to move the platform forward. This is where ruthless prioritisation and superb decision making is necessary from the leadership. 5. Security: They play a key role in securing the platform, safeguarding it from potential threats and breaches. 6. Collaboration: Platform engineers often work closely with other teams, such as developers and product managers, to ensure that the platform supports and aligns with broader organizational goals. #platformengineering #softwareengineering #techexcellence
