Initial results look promising. The sum of green initiatives we installed on Ballard indicates a 15%reduction in consumption. Apart from a Becker Mews Prop duct and Silicon paint, we installed #airlubrication by @silverstream which works by emitting air bubbles under the hull. These bubbles manipulate the density of the water in the boundrary layer, thereby reducing the frictional resistance of the vessel. The air bubbles are generated by powerful compressors which draws power from the also newly retrofitted We Tech Shaft Generator. Their highly advanced VFD allows us to use this much more efficient PTO from ME at a lower SFOC than we would from the auxiliiaries. Net result looks like 15% savings!
