I was lucky enough to spend all of Wednesday at London Business School, with a group of fab female founders 🤩
Organised by the wonderful Emmie Faust, Female Founders Rise team, John Mullins and Selin Kesebir and funded by London Business School, we covered loads - from being clear about what you want from your business, to better understanding your balance sheet, to making better strategic decisions, to how to make your cash work harder for you, to how to negotiate better.
My biggest takeaway was that being human in business really does pay off - in terms of negotation, growth, strategy etc. 🙌
For so long, we've been sold this idea that to be successful in business you need to be aggressive, ruthless and single-minded.
You have to prioritise your own gain above all else and never show any "weakness".
But it's not true ❌
Really understanding other people and how to get the best out of them and for them is one of the most important, and under-appreciated, skills in business.
And being someone who people actually like to work with, along with some healthy challenge and debate, is SO important.
I really think having more diverse founders is contributing to this shift in mindset. And we need plenty more of them 🙏
So spending time with such an inspiring and fun bunch of female founders (some familiar faces and many new ones) was a real treat and got me very inspired!
